Certainly wouldn't describe myself in those terms, just answered the question. Mmm, forgot that I was also there in 1970. As Bandit says, it is worth the visit for the view of the Matterhorn alone. Still have a half-finished painting of "That View" to complete. :x Not sure about recommendations, since everyone likes different aspects of places. For those that love mountains, however, I would suspect it would be on most people's list. |

Whickers, you are a troublemaker, don't do this it will only encourage him. Tis true that N. was ever so slightly damp, along with Maryhofen and the rest of the NiederTirol. So nipped up to A. where the piste machines couldn't keep up with the snow dump. Knee deep between pistes. Amanda territory. N. has fully recovered, good on the piste machine crew. Really good local GS race event on today. Skied with a hot shot skier from the West of Scotland today, called Ross. Is Pablo aware of this person? |

2004, 2007, 2008. Still time 2009, but that might be pushing my luck. |

Sorry to have missed you on your last night Amanda. I did send a garbled txt message in response to yours, then another to try and amend the first.
While you were flashing you GM on prize giving night, I was chatting to Reiner. Currently, he is just about the best deep snow skier here, and he teaches a certain technique, (downward unweighting), to the other instructors. The previous evening, from the Gondola, I watched four instructors come down the Stuck, in knee deep powder, and it was some display of smooth technique. Reiner was last to go, and it was some run. Would have won a GM on Utube, if anyone had mde a video. |

Is it not quite rational that some days will be better than others? I play a bit of tennis, and some days cannot serve for toffee, other days they come good.
Many days I start off the day with a couple of training runs. Just to do nothing other than do a few drills, and keep reminding myself of the basics. However, in skiing, the environment often has a strong, and sometimes unseen, impact. You may start the day, having an "expectation" of the piste ground conditions, based on the previous days skiing. But overnight, a number of factors can contribute to several changes in the surface and substrate crystalline condition. Ise is your man for the detailed knowledge, I just know it happens. You may have already identified a technique issue, ie weight forward. First thing in the day, the surface is glazed, and Whoosh, you spend the next kilometre trying to catch up with your feet. Oh, and stay off the grog the night before. |

Wow, must have been bad.
Our first visit was so good, when we had our 5 month trip driving round Aussie, through NSW,Queensland, Northern Territories, lots of outback, deserts, Alice springs, blah di blah - we had two pairs of skis strapped to the underside of the Ford Transit roof, ski boots tucked under the seats! The Tranny did resemble a hastily re-fitted Marie Celeste! Twas in 1974, so nae doots Perisher has all been redveloped several times. |
