Had to break off, the dog had jumped the wall at the bottom of our field, She then waded through a muddy stream, but obligingly came straight back to the whistle. Hose pipe job.
So I was despatched to make that area of the wall a few inches higher. This dog would make Red Rum look like a limbo dancer. Dunno about a guide dog, I'm thinking of entering her for the Grand National at Aintree. 8) |

Had intended to go to the Raith Rovers match this avo, watch them being presented with the league trophy. Also, we like to take the guide dog pup, as part of the experience training.
"Hey Wullie, yons a guide dog" "Aye Jimmy, it belongs to the referee!" Real on&off heavy weather today, decided to run for cover, do some electrics and plumbing at No1 son's, new, (old) house. Even had the OH acting as apprentice electrician, feeding cables from shower through bathroom wall up to the loft area. "Yes, dear, the electric is switched off." Now where's the insurance policy? Just gave up trying to buy a wind-up solar radio on the net, can't find exactly what I want. Also, had in mind uploading some of this winters paintings, plus some old ones of the Dolomites for Caron-a's Arabba thread. Unfortunately my photo skills are not a patch on those of Ise, so I can't even get a decent copy to load onto the PC. Can't get the sides to remain square to each other on the photo. This is not helped by the slurping of another glass of Hardys Shiraz. Ho, hum, roll on match of the day. Had hoped for a West Ham win, now looks as though I have to rely on ManU winning tomorrow. |

Bringing it back to the thread, questionaire took just 3/4 minutes. Skipped the question on income, figured that was not a lot to do with ski gloves.
Not sure if it is too early yet to start looking for the postman. |

Arrived at our accomodation in Cornwall, a converted chapel, me and four ladies. Harrassed lady, cleaning like fury, clearly well behind. "Apologies" says she, "Looks like this was a load of students here last week, it's taking twice as long." "No worries", says I, "We'll help". Had it finished in no time, then opened a bottle of red. One hour later, a pretty pished cleaning lady. Result, innit? |

This thread was once on rails? |

"Revenues per skier day continued to rise (by about +4%), "
I think this comment is quite telling. It seems evident that there is an expectation that "Revenue per skier" ought to be rising, in a targeted way. For many years, I have refused to believe that the French approach is sustainable. And that belief pre-dated the current financial strife. I am a great admirer of many things that the French engineer, good examples being their energy policy and transport infrastructure. However, when they migrated this big thinking to ski resorts, they seemed to leave out all the charisma. My inner beliefs have been honed throughout my engineering business life, are that you have to succeed in diametrically opposed directions ~ you have to constantly improve facility and quality, and you have to find ways of achieving these at continuing relatively lower costs. Austria and Italy have achieved this. But Switzerland has been amazing in transforming itself. |
