The start point is to email all the tourist offices serving your target areas. Ask them to email out to all accomodations, and invite them to make you an offer.
It may be 3/4 years back we stayed in Scheffau for New Year, and achieved €45/night half board. We had a number of other price friendly offers. |

Swingbeep, there may be a clue that that I AM THE MRS, just might be a lady???
I agree that the boots would, and should be the first port of call, and that this should be the first check. However, we were asked to give an experienced opinion. My thoughts were steered by the fact that the OP had successfully skied on the same set up in the previous season. My shoe orthotics are only two thirds the length of yours. Admittedly, they have been chewed by a succession of nine Guide Dog trainees, but they didn't alter the length. Well not by too much. But they are the ones that I used to assess a potential change in skeletal angle. If the boots are too big, how could the OP be skiing well in the previous season(s)? |

OA, I heard that Voodoo is quite tall.... |

Matt where would your best priced flight get you to?

Swingbeep, all good, but the bit of missing logic is that the OP has successfully used the same ski/boot set up for previous ops. If the boots were too big this year, they were too big last year ~ but last year there was no skiing issue.
The only identified change was the inner soles. All I offer on this, is a possibility that there is a small degree of change in stance, which could be multiplied. However, an individual might change their stance on an involuntary basis. Prevailing snow conditions may induce an individual to lean back, and lessen control. It is certainly an odd one. |

I take solo ski and paint trips every season.
If you don't know an area, you can work through the tourist board of the area you want to go to. Expect to pay less than €30/night b&b in Austria. Regarding travel, from Munich and Salzburg you can get a good and speedy train service into the Alps. You have access to a wide range of resorts from Geneva, although that access tends to be a bit longer and more costly. I normally just get a car hire now. I will be away soon for another 10 days, car hire £113. Train/taxi costs generally €90/100. Having the car also gives me the flexibility to ski in nearby areas. I understand that may not apply to everyone, ~ you need to have a large area ski pass. |

I have skied and eaten in all those places, plus most other regions in Austria. Austria is a low cost country to eat.
Interesting to discover that the cost of supermarket wine has fallen by a fair bit from previous years. |

It may be that the removal of the gel soles would have a small effect, particularly if they were part foot. Heels can be 6~8mm thick, and removing them might cant the leg backwards by as much as 3 ~ 5 degrees.
That could be sufficient to give your body a more upright stance, meaning that your weight is not as far forward as in previous years. Hence loss of steering! |
