Snow's generally good, but a refresher dump is needed (when isn't it?!). It's very cold too.
Montsoleil looks nice, and you can ski from it to Foret easily in the morning, but the only way to ski back at present is by going up the Grand Vans chair and cutting across, before taking the new short chair for Montsoleil - probably not suitable for your 4 yo. |

I'm in Flaine right now. My son did his Ourson with the ESF last week and is doing his Flocon this week. No problems at all with the ESF - the instructors speak good English and have been good with the kids. It's mainly English this week but last week was half and half.
Class sizes appear no smaller in the ESI, and the instructors no better or worse. They all ski in the same area. He's also had an extra lesson (and is having another) with Catherine Pouppeville on a private basis. She specialises in kids and is excellent: www.skicat74.com. Contact her in advance of your trip to book her as she probably won't have space otherwise. She would also I'm sure be able to suggest a good instructor for the adults. Where are you staying and when are you going? |

Merry Christmas everyone. May the best snow always be with you!

Have you tried the buses?
They usually leave shortly after trains arrive and are cheaper than a taxi unless you're a large group. Downside is you won't get dropped at your door unless your staying at the bus stop. |

It's always been that way, and with the valleys so well linked, all intermediates and above need a 3V pass.

Don't assume that just because you're on a motorway route you won't need chains. I've been on the motorway from Lyon to the Tarantaise when chains have been needed!
Like all good scouts, being prepared and expecting the unexpected are important! |

I bet the resort authorities are very relieved it wasn't the new peak to peak cable car!
Hope all are OK and they can get it fixed quickly. |

PPIFG: I suggest you go and free ski with some racers and wanabee racers and then come back n here and suggest they are not technically excellent skiers. Their basic and core techniques are what enable them to travel down the mountain the way they do.
You could also do with some lessons in tact and diplomacy! :XD: |
