Man oh man, what a day!
Went up in the gondola to the blue you were talking about Ally and it was horrendous. Visability was very poor and the snow was unpisted, there were a lot of people falling over (me included) and people were really struggling with the roads (me and the boys included). We stopped at the Nederhutte for lunch and talked about giving up when the clouds parted and I've had one of the best afternoons of my life on the blues and reds round by Davidshutte. We even did a little off piste in the trees a la obergiggle  The new skis come up to my chin and have made the world of difference, I still don't look the part but I can do it A great way to end 2009  |

the light's bad again this morning and Graham had a late one with some of the guys from the chalet so I've let him have a lie in and have come on for inspiration. Thanks guys
I think I'll change to shorter skis, they come up to my nose so may be too long for me. Then I think I'll spend a couple of hours on the lower slopes practising my technique. Tino, there's not a lot of boarders here and one guy in the chalet who brought his own board has reverted back to skis, something to do with the pisting :?: |

Funny you should say that, they've moved the whole ski school to the area at the bottom of what was the rope lift (it's now an extremely smooth button lift) between the Olympia and the Hochfirst. It's right in front of our balcony and is quite entertaining viewing :D |

Hi guys. Some good, some bad.
We didn't get off to a good start, first time on skis since April and the first run we do is the bottom of a steep, icy red to the gondola . My youngest more or less tumbled down it and I made it down very ungracefully. Got to the top of the gondola to take the long blue down and ended up 50m down a black, the boys went off piste to rejoin the blue but I decided to side step back up. Not good. Second run, a six year old out of control boarder took me out from behind . It could only get better. Second day in Hochgurgl I lost the rest of my family, it was interesting. The Top Bar is stunning but it pushed my fear of heights to the limit and I'm not sure if I'll go back up. I remain unphased! I've not been skiing much more than back to the chalet in the afternoon because my knees get very sore and tend to seize up at lunch and the light has died completely on all three days. The forecast doesn't look like it's going to change either. The snow has been beautiful, a few patches of ice were appearing today but it's coming down quite heavily as I write so that's good. My skiing has been eratic but I can officially say that I "skied" my first full red today (as opposed to just surviving). Graham's been doing recces for me and I'm hoping to do the red to the Festkogl gondola tomorrow. It appears I'm happier on steeper wide runs than unsteep thin ones. I can't do roads at all, it's really annoying  Interestingly we reckon at least 95% of people are wearing helmets. Graham has even got himself one now. We're having a great time, my skiing still needs a lot of work though . Saying that, I was very wary today as it was two years to the day since my accident, I was very pleased that I survived the day  Hope you're all well  |

I've been over-excited for months about our trip.
Now we're packed and ready to leave in the morning the only sensation I'm feeling is nerves. I know that once I get off the first lift and slide I'll be fine but I was wondering if I'm alone? |
|
exactly what I was going to post :D I got a lovely cream coat, two buffs - one purple and one grey (to match my helmet), some vouchers, some sweets, some pens (!), a shirt and a lot more money from parents and in-laws than I was expecting . My sister's wedding was fabulous and we had one of the best christmas days ever. |
|
give over! Two medium sized soft bags and two boot bags for a family of four. I don't think we could possibly travel any lighter :? Right, I'm off now. Have a wonderful christmas everyone. See you boxing day :D |

It's so beautiful here and I really want it to stay that way for my sister's wedding tomorrow. The hotel is in stunning grounds with massive cedar trees, I can't wait to turn into the grounds in the car.
Fingers crossed the rain forecast for tomorrow doesn't come. I'm slightly concerned about the country roads I'm just about to drive round to go and pick her up I've gotta say  |
