Hi Pauline, My wife and i are off on our first ski trip in 2 weeks and we've had some great advice from many of the regulars on here (my thanks to them all again)

We've been to TK Maxx this week and it is a good bet for value stuff it seems. The trespass gear seems the cheapest and looks/feels quality too. i just got jacket and sallopets(i'm sure i'm spelling that different each time i post a message! lol) for £50

My advice would be (not that i feel in any way wualified to offer it!) try it all on in their fitting rooms, buy it, try it on at home...you've got 14 days to take it all back anyway. The only problem we've found is we're both a little bit between sizes and the womens stuff is mostly sized just S,M,L etc and not 10,12,14 though there are some sized in the numbers so we've have struggled to find what feels like a really good fit.

Good luck, hope you enjoy your holiday

I picked up a nice pair of Goggles for Mrs Smoothie for under 20 quid on Amazon. There are loads of base layers, long john's, hats etc. Good for anything you don't need to try on.

I'm off for "a look" in the Cardiff TK Maxx today. Have you left anything for me?

Steve

Yeah we've left plenty for ya :D
Of the 3 i've been in lately Cardiff seemed to have the best range of jackets and sallos left, weren't many goggels left and the mens gloves were all large. I'll give Amazon a check too cheers.
Ebay was pretty good last night mind you, not so much the big ebay shops but individual sellers trying to shift unwanted (Christmas) stuff

Me an the wife have been to not 1 but 2 TX Maxx shops today (Newport & Cardiff incase you was curious) and have come back with about 5 pairs of sallopets(spelling?) for her, 2 pair for me and the ultra bright neon green Trespass ski jacket for me! Most of which (her stuff!) is now going back cos she's just found an all in one suit on ebay tonight!

The wife will be fair game for these guys then  ......

 Haha, Trencher. She'll be appearing in next months edition of that little album! I save my assaults on fashion for the golf course generally but the chance to commit such crimes on the piste is too good to miss out on!
God bless TK Maxx i say! :D

Still needing a few things even now for our first skiing holiday (2 weeks sunday, Arinsal)...back to TK Maxx in Bristol to clear their shelves when i go into work next!

Any sugegstions for somewhere else to get the few remaining items? (Funky hats, goggles etc) Mountain Warehouse was just so depressing when i went in there last week......womens clothes were fine, but the mens.....grey...black....grey with black! I'm going on holiday for goodness sake not to a funeral in the highlands!!

i'll stop now before this post turns into a rant :D

or did that happen a few lines ago?!

Hey Clarkysteph and Ryan, thanks both very much indeed for that advice, i think after some consideration we're gonna book the Princessa Parc in Arinsal. (hopefully i can do it tomorrow if it snows enough here and i can skive off work the day!)

Hope you both enjoy your trips

Its what we did for our first ever holiday, and the mountains at Axamer Lizum are amazing. Although you stay in the village at Gotzens its a bit quiet but you are not far from Innsbruck, Seefeld, Igls if you fancy any-thing a bit livlier.

How far is it from the village at Gotzens to the slopes? We're pretty fond of the quiet(ish) life so a small village sounds fine for us.

Hi RoseR

It will be first time ever for my wife, i went to Skiing on a school trip once in 1995. I'll take a look at the all-inc stuff, sounds like minimum hassle.

Thanks

Thanks Nelly, i'm sure there will be lots of advice and all of it useful in some way.

i was almost starting to panic as it is getting very near now, and although we always intended to book a late deal i guess i'm a bit worried about being limited on choice for somewhere suitable and ending up somewhere that wont be good for us.
