Discodee seems to be the person to ask here. I reckon she'll have loads of tips for you.

As Ian said but I'd say take the majority of the warmth from a coat you can take off. Some bars can be very warm and I've been uncomfortably hot in a 'nice cosy jumper'.

Please Tony, Admin has warned us this week already! |

Bloody hell Bandit! You've managed what I thought was impossible. Given me a good reason to watch Channel 5.
Thanks for the heads up. |

If you're going to Bansko ensure you all get your skis tightened properly. A few of our group had to take theirs back. This did little to ensure confidence in the safety of our equipment. The service on that side and in restaurants is nowhere near as good as Bardonecchia.
I prefer not to go to Bulgaria. I would not advise anyone against it though. We had a good enough holiday in Bansko and it is great value. Especially if you are a beginner and want a full course of lessons. Many of our group won't go there again though as they see it a much lesser experience and we're all well past beginner stage now. The year after Bansko we went to Bardonecchia and much preferred it. The service in the ski shop and bars far outweighed anything I've seen in Bulgaria. The food was also much better. I've never seen aperitivo in Bulgaria and we've had some great stuff in both Sauze and Bardonecchia. I didn't have any of the problems Discodee and Randyrat encountered though. The only problem we had was one ski theft/loss and that the bars were too spread out. Bulgaria is cheap but it has little to recommend it on the service side. |

He did thanks. The 'best bit' was asking the surgeon if he would be able to walk down the aisle at our wedding 12 weeks later. The surgeon gave us a gallic shrug and a snigger. Luckily he did walk down the aisle and the crutches were used very little :D
He had to have the metal plate removed here 12 months later as it irritated his leg. He was back skiing after 24 months. He's very athletic though. |

My husband had a multi-thousand claim. Double leg break, mountain clinic costs, hospital fees, extended stay for me, ambulance to the airport, re-booking of flights, ambulance from the airport home.
It certainly focuses the mind re: what you're covered for. All in Andorra, so he wasn't ambulanced from the clinic to the hospital until those fees had been paid. No operation in the hospital until they had authorisation. Makes you see the NHS in a whole new light. Though I think the ease of NHS treatment makes people expect similar abroad. Encouraging a laxness where insurance is concerned. I had always taken out insurance before but just what the tour op offered. Luckily they were absolutely wonderful, everything was covered and they arranged everything. |

I pay extra for my account and get 'lots of benefits'. They assure me this is saving me tons of money. I haven't looked closely enough to figure out the saving vs cost. It covers me for phone, iPod, travel, roadside assistance. All the usual. I've yet to make a claim on any of it. It sure is handy though having it all done by them.
I check the cover every time a point gets raised on here. Eg the alcohol thing last season. Up to now it's not been lacking. |
