Spring skiing really has opened up some new insights, mostly as well expressed by Pavelski.

Absolutely understand what you mean by the edge thing. Two skis experiencing different snow conditions (in the invisible stuff beneath the surface)is no doubt why you are told to keep your skis closer together when skiing in deep snow.

Just discovered this thread and found it fascinating. Am I totally off-beam to "think" I have learned this season that there are certain similarities between skiing off-piste (of which I've done only a very small amount) and skiing in deep, soft springtime snow ? I'm thinking of heel weighting, keeping both skis closer together, and turning both as simultaneously as poss and slightly unweighted ?

I went to Tignes the first week of May last year and had a fabulous time. It was the last week of their season: everything was open, but most people seemed to think the resort would be shut, so I had the place pretty much to myself ! Even the public multi-storey csar park was free !

There is an excellent English instructor based in Tignes who I have had sessions with. Not sure if I should mention his details here, but if you're interested just pm me and I'll gladly pass it on to you. I'm sure you'll enjoy Tignes.

Hi FQ - How's Soll looking from your webcams ? We're going out there this coming Saturday and hoping not to need water-wings :).
