That's a fib if ever I saw one - but the snow looks nice ! -)

Everywhere looks better with snow. Even Tignes

Lifts up from Val, get to top of Toviere, look down on the Tignes bowl and think "which muppet built a prison block in that town by the lake with all this beautiful scenery"?

They'll knock it down soon and/or clad it like they've done in Val Thorens and made it look a lot more bearable

What size skis do you use?

It's all about "tool for the job" really

If you're only skiing freestyle moguls then your skis are still too long, if you want to beat Patrick Ortlieb's sub 2 minutes down the Face then you need some more length (oo-er)

Personally I'm happy to sacrifice a little speed for control and usually have around 165 (depends on manufacturer) myself and I'm 6'

Advice on resort for mixed-level group

Hi

At a quick first glance then I'd say Livigno meets your requirements quite nicely (runs and lifts are from town though there are two distinct sides to the valley and its quite stretched out but the bus is excellent and free with pass)

Only bit I'm not sure of is the X-Country - I reember seeing people doing it when I was there but no idea how extensive it is.

Only real downside with Livigno is that transfer can be long

Good for getting in the mood but that's about it. Like BB said, removing brain first helps :)

I can see myself turning into her dad

There may be worse things than being Bill Bailey Snapzzz - though being Bill Nighy would be cooler (and richer)

Rocksy wrote:Thanks folks, much appreciated. Great tip about the Hahnenkamm. luckily I've booked my leave for the previous week..

Cheers,
Mark.

We went week before the race once and the only shame was that we were not allowed to ski the Hahnenkam route as it was "race prepped" and thus a little quick for us mortals

Kits is a lovely resort but relativley low at village level so you need a good snow year to be able to ski back to town from the Horn etc
Anyone any advice for Klosters/Davos

Ice Hockey is one of THE great spectator sports with a great atmosphere and not that much understanding of the rules required for a casual fan

Watching Davos could be a great shout if the lockout of the NHL continues as the great players are playing across the European leagues this sseason to keep in shape whilst they are locked out by the North American owners in a dispute over their Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Davos have two Canadian Olympic Gold Medallist in Joe Thornton and Rick Nash and most of the other elite Swiss teams have NHL players on the staff this season. There's every chance the whole NHL season will be written off so these players could well still be there when you go!
