Dave Mac, that makes sense then. Since you cannot do a lot about it (unless you want to complain to the Austrian competition authorities), you just have to factor it into the price of the trip.

I've just had a look on lechzuers.com, which may or may not be the official Lech website. Very odd that they give a table of prices for ski hire and then give links to several ski hire shops at the side. This seems to suggest that the price is the same at each of those shops. Hmmm, very fishy

Well done Dave for helping sort this out. Looks like Billy had a great time.

C'mon Dan. "Unlose" the video. All I remember is the thumping sound when you made your jump (or not)

1 pair of socks should be enough, so long as you're not sharing a room

Not late at all. Of the resorts I have skied, Risoul is good for beginners. Some nice long greens and blues. Hemsedal would also be good (but Scandinavia not to everyone's taste)

+1 to all the comments above. Conditions are key. My wife's niece (an experienced skier) decided to take her then boyfriend (and now husband) down the SW. He had only been skiing a little while and I don't think he enjoyed it v much. I think it was some sort of test......

In an effort to get the Quick Reviews back up and running, here's my Quick Review of Are (where's that angstrom when you need it?)
Plus points Family-friendly resort with varied skiing, particularly suited to intermediates. Something for everyone (possibly unless you are a complete beginner) Few lift queues Quiet pistes Three ski areas of Duved, Are By and Are Bjornen offer different skiing experiences Minus points Not a lot of cruisy blues Not a lot for beginners Gets windy quite often which stops some of the lifts Expensive food and alcohol Few too many T bars 8.5/10 - unexpectedly good |
