The gondola queues can be very long but my advice would be to get there at 8am or for about £3 each you could take a taxi up the mountain which is definitely worth considering. I'm going again with my family this Christmas and I'm praying for better conditions this time!

There's something seriously wrong with a resort's lift system if the only way to avoid queues is to get there at 8am or take a taxi. Ridiculous!
Round-the-clock vigilance required!

Have a look at Les Gets; terrific ski area and easy to get to from Geneva.
No mention of Swiss, which carries ski kit for free!
Please add me to the list, La Thuile on March 2. Thanks.

Nice. I've only been to St Moritz for skeleton so I'll be very interested to hear what you think ofn the skiing.
La Thuile or Champoluc?

Booked the Boton D'Or in La Thuile last night for a trip on March 2. The Planibel is convenient but a bit soul-less and has something of the look of an Eastern bloc apartment building. Aosta Express from Geneva is a very convenient way of getting there. Day trip to Courmayeur on the free bus is excellent but wouldn't bother with the trip to Pila. The ski is ok, but not really worth the time spent on the journey.
