Lol good logic in convincing ourselves we need more ski gear. Great minds and all that.

Interesting so I have the mythic with dynafit a and was thinking of getting some 2.0 and transferring marker binging from my Kastle 108. Basically don't fully trust dynafit for the knees. Your setup seems to be spot on.

If people do get some powder I would suggest trying dome Dynasatar Cham 97 2.0 or Mythic 97. For sort of old school powder skiers who want to put in a few turns these were an absolute pleasure. Plenty of float, good width & sidecut to keep responsive and stiff tales provide you some power. I could barely stop laughing the two times have taken them out this season. Forgot how much I had missed the POP having mainly skied Kastle 108 offpiste.
Turn and extend (wait 1, 2) for pressure to build Boom retract under body Turn and extend (wait 1, 2) for pressure to build Serious amount of fun and a little bit old school! |

Am surprised Chamonix only claimed 50cm last week. Last Friday it was that deep at 2000m so must have been significantly more above. Snowing all day today and looks like same tomorrow. Have a feeling there could be one last hurrah, a final encore and part three of Feeling a little smug before February ends.

Even Habuka has following ratings (out of 5 from popular ski website), which to me equates to intermediate area. Fine in itself but add in a decent amount of powder and sounds a bit rubbish.
Beginner 4 Intermediate 4 Advanced 3.5 Expert 2.5 Tree 2.5 Offpiste 2.5 Extreme 1.5 Is interesting they have an English (speaking) rating for the resorts, 4 for Habuka. Which I take as great guidance for avoiding Australians. Bad snow etc. you could live with but long way to go to find yourself surrounded by Aussies, dashing any hope of a cultural experience. |

Sounds a more pleasurable and efficient way of seeing the country than an internal flight. Am still trying to figure out if Japan is actually any good or just hype as a ski destination?
Have seen pictures of friends literally in head deep powder. Other friends went, no powder and described as it as having very mediocre terrain with small vertical & very gentle slopes. Friend this year had 3 days of rain in Mid February. Seems like you need to think about it as a mixed destination holiday vs. a pure ski one. |

At least last night was cooler than expected, seems snow came to 1200m. Plenty of blasting so must be some decent accumulations ~20cm at 2000m.
