Christmas Bargains

Depends what you mean in £££ terms of rock bottom ? I've had a few really good deals on catered chalet rooms pass my way, which when you take into account whats included I'd have said were pretty good deals.

Unfortunately i have to work Xmas Day as it pays for at least 2 ski holidays... would have been 4/5 with out this damn credit crunch (wonder if Gordon will lend a couple of million bail out my ski holiday fund ? he can have share in my bindings or summit)

Good luck with finding something though - just leave some snow for those of us who don't escape till January!

No idea about boarding - but the resort itself I'd give a thumbs up to.

Had fantastic time there in Jan 08. Great skiing, the beginners in the group progressed very quicckly on the greens and blues.

El Bait is definatly worth a visit apres ski if you hungry and like you beer (as in appreciate you beer styles) as there's usually free apres ski nibbles from about 4.30pm and they have the best range of beer (styles) I've ever seen in a ski resort - they were even getting in single barrels of different beers on request for customers who had been before ! It was more like a UK real ale pub with guest beers than a rip off ski bar, and prices were very down to earth to.

Anyway... I'm going back. nuff said.

P.S. And they got Jenga!
Over at Arc 2000 the blues from the St Jacques lift (slow chair) are more like greens, had 2 total beginners with me last yaer and they were quite happy learning on those for the early part of the week before taking the Bois De L'ours chair and then cruise down the blue 'plan' run back to Arc 2000 later in the week.

Have a great time whatever you do.

I'm determined to ski in Scotland in 2009 - and NOT at Xscape!

Private or group??

I'd go private - groups are great for getting you started but once your hitting intermediate i think they can tailor things far better to you in a private lesson - take shorter lessons but learn a hell of a lot more 1 on 1 (or 2 on 1).

Plenty of time of time to socialise and make friends on the apres ski.

Anyway, that's my take on it.

Have a great time whatever you do!

Dave

P.S. If your Ski Club Uk members and in a resort where they have a rep then get along there - it's a great way to get the social aspect of group lessons for no extra cost and get the inside track on a resort.
