it has snowed all day today en route to Zermatt. light snow still falling and the town is looking properly 'seasonal'. Cold though. minus 6 and dropping. Predicted to be minus 21 to minus 23 at the top. With windchill that's proper cold. Defo a 4 layer day tomorrow with lots of warming breaks. Conditions should be great and hopefully most of the postes will be open this week.

Happy Christmas one and all....

Currently packing for our Zermatt trip so a sober Boxing Day for us!
Austria vs France

I really really do not understand all of the french bashing. Never had a problem with any of the trips (skiing or otherwise) to France. You're just as likely to find a rude person in your local Tesco as you are in a french ski resort.
I will be able to report back on this new service as we are catching the train from Geneva airport on the 28th Dec.
New Ski Boots

Although a more pricey option, I'm likely to buy new boots at the resort when the time comes. That way I'm hoping that they can be adjusted as necessary during the week.

Where is all the snow?

There is a decent amount of snow in Zermatt with 70% of the pistes now open. Pretty similar over in Cervinia. I imagine booking this late would cost a packet though.

Putting costs to one side, I would choose Zermatt over Cervinia every time.

Our choice for our upcoming new year holiday was either Zermatt, Val Thorens or Tignes/Val d'Isere with altitude foremost in our minds.
