I disagree with you two! (That is a rarity with these two posters)

If you do not wish to go night skiing, then having lights will make no difference to you. Where I have encountered night skiing, (Obergurgl, Keystone Colorado, Ski Welt, etc), I have often had an early dinner, and extended my ski day ~ not just for additional skiing, but also, night skiing is quite a different ski experience.

Regarding snow cannons, all that is doing is ensuring a base to the run. In Niederau, one of the FIS race course runs used to be a bit stony at the end of the day. If you had heaps of experience on that particular run, you knew the ways around the issue, but many didn't.

The locating of snow machines significantly reduced/eliminated that particular issue, without changing the main experience.

Anyway, the Sarenne is only dark grey.....

Cervinia for a non skier

Hi SJ, I had a peek at the Cervinia Tourist Board site. It is quite disappointing. Many other areas have set up quite wide ranging activities. Have a look:

Looks like we need a confessional forum!

Anyone else?

OK Guv, it's a fair cop. Fieberbrunn, 34kph in a 30kph area. By radar. Sent via car hire company, (who helped themselves to some fees)

Aware of the possibility of being put in the stocks at the border at Kufstein, (made worse, by having bought a season pass), I later slipped my younger son the €30, as he left for a spring trip to the Austrian Lakes. He duly paid, but left the receipt on the hotel table.

I then spent 3 years travelling by backroads around Austria, using an assumed name.

A couple of years earlier, I was stopped for having too much snow on the car roof. My Deutsch was just good enough to get out of this. I talked about my sick sister, how my business was in trouble, how great was Angela M, etc...

I feel awful, that I have let the J2ski side down.

This has been a shambles from the start. SB's membership was removed by a whisper in the ear, at the start of a Basi AGM.

Members of the board of directors who were involved in the decision have ski school businesses in competition with SB. Hence, they should have declared an interest, but appeared not to do so, and hence they have now back-tracked
I would not bet on SB losing the £500k claim, nor on BASI surviving this.

There are moves to establish an alternative snowsports organisation.
Ski 4 Cancer’s Everest Challenge

I would encourage this, since I do work for cancer and guide dogs every year.

However, I am not too sure about the level of the challenge, 29029ft.

In January 2002, I broke the Niederau village day run record for the second time. (First time 1973). The total vertical during the day was 19968m, 65511ft.

Ah, I have just re-read, this is more of a social challenge with break/entertainment points. That's fair enough. Apologies.

As you were.

Bit of a bummer, I would have done this.... but I will be in Colorado....

I would be really happy if that would work, Andy. My best guess is that we will arrive around 5,30pm/6.00pm at the Hotel Pic Blanc. Yes, I know this is an expensive place, but it is not my choice, I am merely doing what I am told.
There is a balance in life. Alp D'Huez will cost three times more than my January visit to Niederau, but less than half of my March visit to Colorado.

Old Andy, you are only young once....

Joking apart, does the timing fit?
Typically the train takes just under 3 hours, changing at München Ost and Wörgl . Cost seems to be around €39 each way per person, but you would need to input your arrival times. I have done the journey to Wörgl many times. Use the DBB website.

If you are not carrying skis, you can hire a small car from £107. For ski size car allow about £150. Suggest you go through auto-europe.

Westendorf is a good place, I ski there every season, it is less than half an hour from Niederau.
