Now the reveal!

The picture below was taken just prior to the one the Jan posted. As you can see it was clearly me producing those magnificent tracks.

At the time Jan was busy pratting around with some sticks.

In the background is my mystery ski coach casting his expert eye.

Now should I start with ellistine's Avitar or Mr Admin's for that matter ... ;)

Go on then. Put me out of my misery. What's wrong with my avatar? )

You have the time it takes me to go and find another one....

P.S. Great image but what is that poll stuck out of the piste? I've seen it in a couple of your pictures.

This may have already been mentioned but I do think we all raise our expectations as we progress in, well, anything really. This can make it difficult to assess how good we are in something.

I sailed on Friday night. It was awful. Too windy, too choppy and I thought I sailed rubbish. BUT, Kim was out on the trapeze, we didn't capsize and we made it back safely. A couple of months ago my heart was racing just trying to keep the boat up right in some very light winds.

The same in skiing. Last February we had a bit of a struggle skiing the deep stuff between the trees in Italy. At the time I thought I was pants at it. But again, it's only a matter of a few 'skiing' weeks prior that we were planning routes around resorts avoiding anything that wasn't blue.

I think only by evaluating your progression can you really evaluate your own ability. Those of us that think we're in the lower ranks of ability are probably a lot better than we think.

You can take the skiier out of the dryslope but you can't take the dryslope out of the skiier :D

If I find a run I like I will tend to ski it until somebody forces me to ski somewhere else. The Ahorn in Maryhofen was a bit like that. Not difficult, not steep, possibly a bit dull but I could have happily skied it all day if I had been on my own.

I'm suprised Tony_H didn't get this one. It's in the Vialattea towards the bottom of one of my favourite runs there. A narrow but very rolling piste down though the trees that ends up in San Sicario.

Anybody else have a picture to post?
