That is possible without poles though...

I did use mine to pass a bobble hat to a French man that had wiped out and lost everything that was not attacked to his body!

Apart from sometimes using them to stand up and pushing you along on the flat - what are they for?!

That is exactly right. You can enable them all again by unticking those boxes. I am back home now so the majority of my posts (less) will be done on laptop!

Washing on, ski boots airing time for my trip report

Well, what can I say - a fantastic trip!!!

We arrived in Geneva early, however passport control and luggage collection left a lot to be desired. It took 60 minutes to get through passport control and another 30 minutes to collect baggage. However my brother was there with hire car and off we went. Stopped off at Carrefour in Moutiers and climbed up the mountain. Got to resort at about 6pm. Could not get in apartment as it was being cleaned - NOT IMPRESSED having got up at 5am that day was a tad tired.

Apartment- Le Valset, Val Thorens

Anyway, eventually got in. Apartment was naff to say the least. Apartment for 8 suitable for 4 (only 4 of us so was ok). 1 toilet in teh apartment - that was downstairs and the bathroom upstairs. No handbasin in the toilet so you can imagine the fun in the morning!

Kitchen was a mess, oven was the size of a microwave and had no dishes to use in it and the microwave was lovely - only because there were no microwavable pots!!

Anyway, I could go on, but I wont as this is about the skiing. If anyone wants to know more about the manager that assaulted us with a mop or how he ripped us off for €52 then PM me and I will reveal all. Alternatively look at the review I put on Tripadvisor tomorrow ;)

The skiing

THE BEST FOR A LONG LONG TIME!!

4 days of clear blue sky, packed powder on the piste great temps to keep it all fab. It was just great. Many occassions I cruised down a piste and ended with "wow", "oh yes", "loving it" the views were great (I will edit the post and put some up from my mobile later)

Every day followed by a Guiness or Kilkenny.  8)

On the Thursday Vis was pretty bad. I went up Portette in VT and vis was down to 50m max. NOt good. We headed over to Les Menuires and it was a lot clearer. Simply fantastic.

Friday, oh Friday! Friday as everyone knows was the day the snow came, and came and came for 24 hours! We went skiing over to Boismint in Les Menuires thinking that it might be better. At the top of Boismint is was gusting 100kph wind, snowing and a tad chilly! Skied down some blues - yes blues! - they were great, deserted, powder snow. Best ever - vis was challenging at times but still great!! Stopped at a restaurant at top of Plan de l'eau for a vin chaud about 11am. Then in came a Ski Patroller man. Asked us to put our ski back on and go back to Val Thorens as that side of the resort was closing. So we downed our €6 vin chaud and off we went. VT was a lot better, had some more fun in the powder and I managed to fall over - I had not done it all week!!

It was simply great!!

The journey home took a while, but from what I hear some others on package tours had a much longer journey. But I cant let that or the €10 onion soup, €5 coke, €6 Guinness or the rubbish apartment ruin the holiday.

It was one of the best skiing holidays ever. Will add some photos tomorrow when I have finished scraping my €5 i have left together!

I loved it :D:D:D:D:D

I did miss you lot too, I have a lot to catch up on ;)

Abi, great wasn't it!! We followed 2 snow plough out of val thorens took us 2.5 hours to get to moutiers - very slow!! Think the total journey back to Geneva was over 4 hours. We left at 10am, when did you leave?

But the week was fantastic!! Wish I was there skiing next week!!

Staying at parents tonight.. mum said she will do my washing and cook roast lamb before I go back tomorrow....

Good to be home!!
