Mostly mid to late twenties, so yes, they are too old for me. Both No 1 and No2 are good skiers, and thats all the qualities they need. |

Admin, I'm overwhelmed. Might that be a paid position? And do I get a badge? |

Will do, Caron, although he didn't turn up for our scheduled meet-up yesterday. I'm feeling shattered this morning, so plan a later start. Yesterday, was skiing pretty well non-stop, for 8 hours. Had two runs down with Sepp Schellhorn, the head instructor, the fastest was 2 min 40 secs. I finished just 2 meters behind him, and he mildly enquired if I had a problem with my skis. Straight after skiing, I was enticed by No 1 lady into Gunters sports cafe. One beer lead to six, and ................. dancing on the bar top suddenly seemed to become an irresistable attraction. I warned them that if any of those photos get onto facebook, blood will flow. I texted the bar dancing my to my frau, she responded by asking if the bar was still standing! Well, the Ibruprofen is kicking in, gotta get going. |

So yesterday, I turned up at lunchtime with the lady, and took some stick from Mel & co. I just told Mel, the lady was temporarily replacing him as my ski buddy - she is seriously quick, can out-ski many instructors, and very stylish. Received a text this morning she was not skiing until later. Met up with on of last night's nurses ~ she also turned out to be a pretty good skier. Steady but enjoyable skiing ~ the piste was mmmmm quite fast.
Hence, I turned up at lunchtime today with a different lady. Told Mel this was another ski buddy, and he had better buck up. All great fun. Then number one lady appeared, and we enjoyed a group run. Left the group and skied 3 minute runs all afternoon with No 1 lady. She bailed out, and I continued, making my target no of runs, including assisting the Bergrittung with an accident to a 10 year old local racer. I have worked on many mountain accidents, but I still find dealing with the young ones quite upsetting. Missed the last mountain top drink, but I was enticed to attend a 5.00pm village drinking place, definitely not my style. Having chatted in deutsch to Gunter, the young lady next to me purred that she would love to learn to speak German. Well, you know how much I like to help people. I gave her a phrase to say, which she duly repeated to Gunter. He quickly grabbed her hand. "What!, Now?" Received a call from Jan Stenmark, so looking forward to skiing with him tomorrow. Pulled out the 2m K2s in preparation. |

Caron, thank you. It was a great day. Having met a lovely lady in the Bichlwirt last night, I skiied with her, and two instructors for most of today, she was both fast and stylish, and we had a real fun day, doing non-stop 4 minute runs. Unfortunately, at the 4.00 pm end, we met a bunch of friends and locals in Rudi's, (Jochalm), and a schapps session happened, cut short by a phone call from a mate who wanted to meet up in the Bichl. We all skiied down, in the best of order, and a serious Bichlwirt drinking session ensued. Nobody was in the Bichl, so I served everyone, kept a note of the drinks, and collected the cash. My ski buddy Mel, arrived at 7.00pm to gather everyone up for a meal, had to do a quick ski-boots removal/shower/smart Dave Mac black shirt. Caught up with the group, trying to look sober....in control. After dinner, attended by Herbert, we repaired to the Bichlwirt, and had just arranged to meet up in the Irish bar in the village, when a bunch of Irish nurses arrived, and of course it would have been impolite to move on, especially since one of them was a J2skier. Herbert arrived and gave a great harp performance of Tirol music. It was dumping snow all day, there was loads of off piste. How much better does a birthday get? |

For the avoidance of doubt Tony, I skied until the lift closed. So, I skied down in the semi-dark. St Anton was icy by 10.30 am. |
