Sea sickness, chair lift
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 73 Replies
sued, I've been given different advice by two doctors. My youngest gets extremely bad nose bleeds (usually on the slopes as well as at home), one doc told me to let it bleed and another told us to push the nose to the bone on the bleeding side about half way/two thirds up (you can feel where the nose starts to open up). I prefer the latter, it stops it within minutes. He has had it quarterised but it still happens.

So, apart from said nose bleeds, he was very ill after travelling up the funicular in Tignes to the Grande Motte (plied him with water for half an hour and came back down), he's come back from two trips with a chest infection (a two week stint of bronchitis this time) and I have to stand still for a couple of minutes at the top of every lift to wait for the nausea to subside.

why on earth do we do it

Thanks for that Trencher. My boys and I were all goofy on the shiny floor test but, just to confuse matters, mr-a was regular on the pushing test and goofy on the floor test, but when he did a bit of skate/xboarding a while back he was regular. I guess he'll have to go for the duck foot stance test. [all these new words are making my day ].

Thanks boardbiker. I will wear my brace to see how I get on, it'll also offer a bit more protection for when I fall on it. I'm slightly nervous about the lift thing but at least my friends are looking forward to having a good laugh at me

at the very beginning you won't go further than a few metres but the instructor will always be close by.
a word of warning, the first day is exhausting
Hochgurgl Ski Hire

there is a skiset (Scheiber) and an Intersport in Hochgurgl. I saw one next to the Top Hotel but I don't know which one that is.
Hochgurgl is really just a cluster of hotels so you can't go far wrong unless you go for one in Obergurgl or for one at the bottom of the hochgurglbahn which would be slightly less convenient.

I'm not doing very well am I

Tony, I've just done the pushing test on my boys and they are both goofy (much giggling ensuing).
I'm hoping we'll have a new camera by then so will try to get some decent photos. I'm eagerly awaiting LynnD's return.
