So, I went into the hardware store in town today, looking for some gaffer tape to effect a repair to the aforesaid rear entry boots. I was accompanied by the guide dog, looking very smart, in the blue coat.
A blonde lady walks across, and asks if she can help. I told her I was looking for Duct tape. She takes me by the arm, and starts to lead me through the aisles. I was thinking, "Aye, Davie Mac, you never lose it". Blonde lady stops beside some shelving, takes my hand, and puts a roll of tape into it. "Great stuff, lass, but wrong colour" She looked dumbstruck, "Oh, you're not blind then?" -) |

Back from a fabulous weekend in Cairngorm. The snow is as good as it gets. There was the usual transport issues. There is a one hour queue for the bus from the car park to the centre. We opted for the walk, a mile and a half uphill, carrying skis.
Small queue for passes, 15 min for the train, six minutes up the hill. Then, everywhere was super. White Lady closed for races, everywhere else open. At the end of day, a ski down the full length of Corrie na Ciste, quite icy, leads right back to the car park. |

This project seems to be one where a solution has been proposed, without the problem being adequately defined. That is entirely opposite to how a manufacturer would operate.
Even assuming the OP's proposal, there is no definition of "reaction time". You have to define the two events between which the reaction time is to be measured. As skiers, we are all aware of the many different ways that accidents can occur. Sometimes, the reaction time is zero, you have been wiped out. On other occasions, there is suffiecient time to shout something like, " Ooooouuur, fecme, shheeeeeeeet, blady, blady, Moooouuuuuuuumeeeee." So, say seven seconds. That would seem to be a starter for Bandit's solution. Or possibly, Trenchers. As a definite NON-classical guitar/banjo player, I would have to have a go for Bandit's way. Damn, does that mean, I have to add press-ups to the exercise routine? |
