Niederau info.....

Just wanna clear this up. A standard Skiwelt pass for €194,50 does NOT let you ski Niederau.

You would need a Kitzbühel Alp pass for €217 for the 6 days.

 my bad, had read that bit of false information on another site.
It's a shame they don't offer an additional day or two for other area's included in the lift pass. Like last year I skied Claviere Italy and inc in the weeks pass was a day skiing Montgenevre and a day on the milky way, would be excellent if N offered something similar.

The ski hire in the Sonnschein is run by the hire shop next to the gondola so no difference

Sweet this is what i was hoping for  does this mean we should be able to use the lockers at the gondola too???

Thanks for all the info guy's, it seems for anyone considering skiing elsewhere for a day or two the cheapest option is to get a SkiWelt pass for the week, Which is what i will be doing.
6 days Wildschönau pass 160,60 Euro's
6 days SkiWelt pass 194,50 Euro's
Does anyone know if you can pick up a Skiwelt pass from the Niederau ticket office?? Also have another question about Ski hire, We have booked to hire our equipment from the in-house hire shop at the sonnschein. Has anyone hired from the sonnschein before? Do they have a proper technician? i have paid for expert skis and just wondered if they would be as good as hire Ski's from a shop in town? Might be worrying about nothing just thought id ask. Cheers )

"I think Ally you get a lot more grip on the icy paths with hiking boots, but each to their own ...... "
This  totally agree with Ian, even more so after 2 falls on an a very icy path in Tignes 2 years ago, was wearing standard/fashion trainers and went flying. Could have ruined my holiday but luckily i was pissed enough to not feel anything! Def invest in some hiking boots Nike ACG do some nice ones.
Have been lecturing my old man about getting fit for our few days skiing (he's got till March). last year he really seemed to struggle keeping up and def didnt seem to enjoy it as much, which was largly due to his fitness (or lack off it). In his defence he is 65 and retired so i am looking for some basic exercise and ski related stuff that he could do in doors? doesent have to be youtube just thought the videos would help him and ensure he was doing them properly. Anyone got any links or websites that they use i could pass on to the old git  Cheers
going skiing with my girlfriend in March she is pretty much a beginner, had an hour at Hemel and 5 or 6 goes on plastic, every time suffered with her boots. Now we realise that hire boots can be crappy and they might be better in resort but dont want to risk it! So we are trying to establish which brands/models have a wider calf, any help would be fantastic. Obviously we dont want to spend fortunes just a basic learner/improver boot with priority being comfort. We are going to go shopping and seek advice in store but if anyone has experianced similar then please share your advice. She's a size 3 normal average foot shape and width and high instep, legs are on the short side so her calves are lower down and wider than most. should prob point out she's not an umper lumper and only a size 8- just with unusually large calves! Might kids boots be an option cause they will more than likely come lower down the calf??? cheers for any responses!

Knee brace(s)

At the risk of sounding a div, what is wrong with knee braces such as Mueller?? i Was looking at the Hg80  just so you know, iv'e had knee issues for more than 10years,thanks to Football and skiing! I now have no acl in my right knee and the other one is not great. I was booked in for the op 2 years ago, but by then it was stable and i was fully mobile and the thought of 8 or more weeks of work as a S/E builder-carpenter didn't appeal, so i bottled it. Anyhow (touch wood) the knee is holding up nicley but the hindged brace i purchased about 8 years ago from a doctor in saint gervais (about £150) is a little tight and worn so i'm on the market for 1 poss 2 good knee braces (hindged) for skiing, to quote someone else "Many of the cheaper knee braces are a false economy - you are paying for a device that will offer your ACL no substantial support." Why's that then :?: , have never really thought or researched it too much, just always accepted that my knee's are shit!
