Well...where to start...

Chamonix is brilliant, you will have a great time. I'm heading back there again this season, not till March though.

There are quite a few different areas and it depends what you are into. For off piste powder, head to Grand Montets (although there is also a park there), for wide open runs suited to beginers, go to Le Tour. On bad weather days, I would head to Les Houches. It is the only area with tree runs really, and that shelters it a bit if it is dumping snow during the day. It also has a good park and some of the best on mountain restaurants. Le Brevent and Flegere is also good as well!!

In terms of nightlife, there is something for everyone. There are lively bars / clubs, a casino, cinema, and regular events, and ice hockey matches. For food, again there is a massive selection. I like the Tex Mex place, La Cantina, but for the best pizza you have ever tasted...head to Le Caveaux...it is awesome!!

Mayrhofen is great, i'd highly recommend it. Got a couple of mates going there over New Year and they tell me the snow conditions are looking brilliant already.

Another option might be somewhere like Cervinia in Italy? Just an idea! Its high altitude, guaranteed snow, and is on the other side of the Matterhorn from Zermatt (the area lift pass covers both areas). Massive area, guaranteed good snow, and one of the best on - mountain restaurants i've ever been to!!

If you want any more info about Cervinia, let me know.
Best skiing in Scotland?

yeah - this amount of snow will give us a brilliant base for the next 6 months...awesome!
I have been to Zermatt but not quite that late. I think you should still be fine, with a decent amount of the resort still open.

Have you considered Chamonix in France? Its only an hour and a half transfer from Geneva, and has great snow until mid May (it only closes then to let the seasonal workers away, rather than lack of snow!) Been there in late April before and had perfect conditions, and the whole resort was open. Might be a good option?
-2!!! So much snow here in Scotland, someone passed me on the way to work on their cross country ski's!!!

Not seen it...will have to look out for it in the shops.

We really did have an amazing season last year..great snow until June!! The long term forecast is for a similar year, with the weather patterns lining up very similar to this time last year.

Lets keep our fingers crossed!
so true...everywhere you go there seems to be an Irish themed bar!!
