Exactly why I use resort tourist office websites to book accommodation; no fees, no mark-up!

I remember Sportinia from 1973! The lift up to the area from Sauze itself was peculiar combination of half-chairlift, half-T-bar. There was no village level snow at Easter so you had to wait for the chairs to come around as the T-bar bit wasn't able to function. Very odd! They also had this peculiar bucket lift thing in the Moncrons area, which I think is now closed down!

Welcome to the debate, On edges! Europe is your oyster. The choice is vast and there is so much variety. Lech is a lovely, snowsure resort but upmarket and expensive, particularly when compared with the the rest of Austria. The Dolomites are spectacular and you certainly get more bang for your buck in Italy. Any of the Sella Ronda resorts seem to be what you're looking for. To get more advice from the community, can you give us a clue on length of trip, which month, accommodation preferences etc etc. All these will have a bearing.
I know a few Canadians who have skied in Europe and they are generally blown away by the size of the lift systems, the links between resorts, valleys and even countries and the miles you can get under your skis. |

I like it! Never seen St Anton with so few people about!

Swiss or Swiss International not Swiss Air - they went bust years ago!
Have done the train from Zurich airport to Grindelwald; very straightforward but make sure you get on the right part of the train at Interlaken Ost; the front end goes to Wengen, the back few carriages go to Grindelwald (or is it the other way around?!!!) |

Tone, I'm keen to hear how you like (or otherwise) St Moritz. I've only been there for skeleton and have a hankering to return. Looking forward to your usual comprehensive report!

Trains run every 25-30 minutes from Innsbruck HBF to Kufstein. The cost is around 30 Euros return.
A regular bus runs from bang outside the terminal at Innsbruck airport to the main railway station. It costs a matter of a few Euros and you can buy a ticket online that covers bus and train. http://www.oebb.at/en/index.jsp has all the details you need. |

Stay on the California side of South Lake Tahoe. Ski in Heavenly, Kirkwood (my favourite) and Sierra - excellent combination for a ski trip!
