This may have been previously discussed but currently watching this program on extreme sports channel and before you say it Ian it is NOT your normal program on this channel-they take a resort or country every week and go through different areas of it-mainly off piste but also the culture of the area. Its excellent and the guys arent much better than your average punter which makes it more fun to watch!
todays was chile but already watched BC and Vail
on the ball as always!

it was a world record jump but it was broken by a guy doing a powder field somewhere on film-i cant remember when or why i saw it but he was skiing away and the heli was filming but he went off course and skied towards the edge-you can hear the guys in the chopper shouting "a gauche, a gauche" (sorry for bad french spelling) and then he disappears off the edge but as the chopper flies round hes just a bit buried after somethign like a 300ft fall! mental-its why im glad i didnt grow up in the mountains because these people clearly are bored doing "normal stuff" that i find great!
broken legs are rubbish!

it was a spiral fracture of the fibula-goes down the bone and then across the ankle, unfortunately had ligament damage too across the bottom of the bone and inbetween the fib and tib. Had my ski boots on yesterday though and was comfy enough so hopefully christmas will be more fun than initially thought!! hasnt stopped me booking my 3rd holiday of the year for easter too!!!
oh and theres also a video of sammy carlson doing a switch triple rodeo on there which is insane!
what you could do is look through this site-they have skis going quite far back and follow the model that was the scrambler (i think the morphed into the Xwing series?), find the newer model, demo it and see if its worth it? click on the ski model and then it gives you an option to track it back a few years to see the older versions

actually if you want a pair slightly wider for the offpiste skier in you, id suggest the ARV too-less good on piste but superb fun too
