Anyway ....
I was completely stationery on a flat bit before the next drop of a simple red run, waiting for my sister and niece. They arrived .... I fell over. Head downhill, couldn't get skis over, under, around or through anything. They laughed. I have absolutely no idea what happened, I just capsized on the piste. |

Yes please  In front of a webcam to win Adders daily best webcam pic would be good - can you manage that? |

A tragic accident by the sound of it but a timely reminder of how unpredictable the mountains can be.
With an instructor on a piste suitable for a 6 yo - who of us would have worried about avalanche risk in those conditions? The snow that has fallen in such high quantities recently is going to be very unstable for a while, I hope we don't hear many more of these stories. |

You must let us know when and where you are skiing Iceman.
Could be worth a follow down  |

A tuck is not necessarily the fastest - or as you have found the safest!!
:) :-) :D I am very proud of the fact that my 17yo gets mad when he goes into a tuck and I gracefully slide past, standing upright, arms behind me ......... My best guess, and of course it is a guess, is that what is happening is that your weight is dropping back onto the tails of your skis. This will... a, slow you down b, make you unstable, tips quiver, edge caught - end of story. Now I doubt if this is the correct way but I find it's about getting the weight well onto the front of the boots but, at the same time, being quite "light" if that isn't a contradiction or even oxymoron! Anyway - any more good stories for a laugh?? |
