Right finally plucked up the courage to reply-Even before logging on I have followed the posts- Since joining I agree with you Ally have gained so much advice. I am with Old Andy in that I can't get enough of like minded people with a passion for skiing - it is like a drug and I get my fix by coming on here many times in a week. There is a hardcore lot of you on here and although I am right out on the fringe as a relatively newbie I am so grateful to you all for always being the heart of J2ski - keep your banter going, you make me laugh so much at times, much better than dipping into a favourite book and sometimes even beats a curry on a Friday night (well, when holiday getting really near). The only trouble is hours can be lost very quickly. But then again it's about skiing so who cares!!It is great to have a place to keep talking and checking about it.Have adored Pavels and Trenchers advice and Cem made my skiing feet bliss this year. Love the J2 ski forum – long may it continue.

There is only one thing I don't agree with, and that is Mr Wickams quote and as you may know I cannot do the quote thing in blue ... so here goes..
.
But above all it is a fantastic place to communicate with like minded people with a passion for the mountains and a great font

Just a constant reminder that nobody has come to my aid. I still have to type in the same small black and white font – What does one have to do to join the inner sanctum around here !!!

He is a Snow God !

Anyway back to thread....
Valberg
pros – real french friendly town, cheaper cos in the southern alps . Short transfer form Nice airport. A couple of pretty blue runs and one long easy red. Some reasonable reds but on the short side. Can get across whole area on chairs. Great for someone who detests buttons. Quiet area – not good for après ski but good if you just like a few nice restaurants.
Lots of good quality chalets and apartments to rent.

Cons Not high altitude so not snow sure Blacks were short icy moguly. Not a very big ski area. You ski across the area in very short runs. Only one mountain restaurant. Only one way up mountain therefore queues in morning. Not good for beginners as long green is at the top of the mountain and has a steep start more like a blue. If you ski to the far side of the area you will find you cross a short but difficult stretch of red ( the only way) to get back. Only bars at base are across the road so no sipping drinks and watching people ski down.

Actually wondered why I went now…but remembered was going to Pra Loup but couldn't get decent self catering accommodation for 8 at the higher level got talked into it needed to find somewere quickly as we had flights to Nice booked. OH kept saying ' Too low and short runs'. It was pretty – but will not return.
