As far as I know and I havn't found any more info by searching, Italy is the only European country which has put any legislation on the statute books. Most ski schools though, insist that children wear helmets.
If you ask yourself how you would feel if, god forbid, a bad accident happened and your child wasn't wearing a helmet and they suffered head injuries .... well there is really only one conclusion isnt there? And no, I dont wear a helmet, but I think I probably should ) |

Hi jek61no,
I'm afraid that I'm not going to be much help after all. What I was planning to do was take a couple of pics and explain the instructions to you. I have never looked at the instructions that come with a salomon binding before (dealers have a technical manual if we need any info) the bumf in the box just gets binned. My first thought is that the instructions are designed to put you off doing it yourself - they are not easy to understand. They are also generic, i.e. some of the steps shown dont apply to all binding models. There are very clear and precise instructions in the dealers manual but it also says in large print "To be mounted by a Salomon Authorized dealer only" As I have our business name in my signature any advice I would give could be construed as coming from our business and not from me personally. So I'm afraid I cant give you any help. Sorry. You should take seriously what Pavel says above. Even if you think you have them mounted and adjusted correctly, is it worth the risk to save the few pounds that a shop would charge to mount them for you? |

Hi jek61no
Just spotted this thread. I'm off work till Thursday but if you can wait till then I can take a few pictures and annotate them - don't think I could explain clearly (safely) without the help of pictures and I would still recommend that you get them checked by a technician once you have them setup. |

Stunning!
I'm sure there is a reason why I came back to live where I now live, but for the moment I can't remember what it is :( |

Whilst I wouldn't call Verbier a 'chocolate box' resort it is definitely not full of rich russians. I think whoever told you this is either getting confused with somewhere else or they spent their entire time in Verbier in one small night club. )
Verbier does not have the variety of upmarket hotels (surprising given its reputation but true nevertheless) that rich Russians seem to like. |

You see this is where I get a bit lost! Generally if you use a piece of new equipment that makes something far easier you would be regarded as 'soft core' or some similar term yet when it comes to fat skis the opposite seems to be the case. I just don't get it. )
Only since the city boys moved in! :( I spent 8 winters in Verbier and went back last April after a 6 year absence. Talk about a town losing its soul. |
