I have winter tyres fitted to the Land Rover. They were offered, after negotiation, at the same price as standards. Our local conditions are almost 2ft snow, and the LR takes this in it's stride. Uphill, no probs. Towed out quite a few cars this week. Keep a shovel, and emergencies in the LR, just in case.
The Kendal Mountain, and the Dundee Mountain are just a week apart. Last year at the Dundee, my son interviewed Reinholt Messner, and I got to meet with RM. This year, my son interviewed Catherine Destivelle. Regretfully, I was unable to attend, and did not get to meet this outstanding mountaineer.
What a lovely guy, and a neat skier. Doubt that he would be interested in being in the Bobble club.

Thats cool, I just signed the "Save the West Wall Chairlift" I don't know why they ever let it go, it would be the fastest access up the hill from the car park.
It is looking like another great Scottish season. Could lift me up to a 7/8 weeks winter. - )
Brilliant, Alistair! - )

bandit wrote:Dave Mac, to get the necessary "respect" I do think you need to use the appropriate lingo. So none of the "walking and carrying" stuff, when in fact you were hiking for your turns, Geddit )

Bandit! By now, you should know I don't do respect.
Such people do things like cross match their ski clothing, wear bobble hats, comment knowingly on places they haven't skied, go glitzy with choices of resort, don't really get skiing, but do the posing thing well, and generally can't ski for toffee.
I walked and carried.

I agree with that Rossy. Who were you referring to re the London based person? Can't see anything like that on this thread?

Nanook, I hail from Manchester, and we used to ski at Ford Hall, Edale, using a rope tow. I have no idea if that still operates.....
Also, skied in Lyme Park, on sevral Derbyshire hills, Cross Fell in the Lakes, all walking and carrying.....
