Being relatively new to the sport and only having first hand experience of a handful of skis and poles i may be wrong here......
Do most pole tips have serrated edges? In the past i can't say i have noticed this 100% but i am sure all the poles i have used in the past are pretty blunt at the sharp end. The reason i ask is that my new Atomic Nomad poles have sharp teeth cut into the tip. Now i can see why this would be done for cutting in to icy pistes but i now have a real problem with them. They have really chewed up my binding release clips. Doesn't everyone use their pole tip to unclip their bindings? Well at the point where i have pushed down the binding clip is a mess. Now i may be just being picky as they are new skis and i love them and want to baby them but is this normal? I didn't really notice it until yesterday when i dropped my skis off to be prepped for my next trip. I was slightly gutted at the state of them. Surely the manufacturers know we do this and could have made a better clip with a metal insert or something. Not happy. |

Can we have instruction on how to safely navigate the trecherous stairs to the toilets that restaurant owners always seem to put downstairs?
Not only that but why do they always seem to tile the stairs in the slickest material going, put up no hand rails and make them too narrow for people to pass each other! grrrr |

I think your right to give Snow conditions your highest priority at that time of year so everyone is going to tell you the same....GO HIGH.
Val Thorens & Tignes in France would be best. Saas Fee or Zermatt for the swiss experience (not going to be good value though) Or perhaps Obergurgl or Mayehofen in Austria (probably the pick for nightlife) Where to book depends on you length of stay really. If you go for 7 days then any tour operator will help you out but go for less and you need to look towards specialist short break operators or DIY. If it were me i would choose VT or Tignes as you will still get ski in ski out (which i prefer). I really can't be doing with buses and all that faff to get to the slopes every morning. |

I'm going to call them again later as their site does advertise a price match policy. It states you must contact them within 2hrs of booking, which i did, so i should be ok. |

I am not sure what happened with Inghams, i really makes no sense. Iglu seem to think that their systems just link in with their TO's and if they can find availability the the TO's should have it too. They are just a travel agent. As an update i went on to the Inghams website after i booked with Iglu to check the accommodation and found it was available via them again. And to make matters worse it was £50 cheaper (total) than i had just paid!!!!! Obviously i am not happy and i just called Iglu to make amends ... .i am waiting on a call back. |

I've only gone and done it...... Im booked.
What a nightmare though, there were NO holidays from east midlands for 4th feb at all. So i looked at Birmingham. Crystal, Inghams, Neilsen....all nothing for birmingham. Sure i could fly from gatwick but that would give me a big drive just to the airport. I don't like that. Anyway after hours on the phone we managed to get Iglu to find flights into Geneva with, wait for it, Inghams! WTF...they told me they were fully booked. So then came the choice of resorts. Les arcs or La plagne were my first choice but from geneva it is a 3+ hour transfer which we didn't want. And the guy on the phone says that the french drivers stop for a break every 2hrs du to their working arrangements which meant dragging it out even more. So in the end i said 'How about the Grand Massiff area" and now we are booked for Flaine. Now i know, before you all start, it is pig ugly but that doesn't bother me. I am a Skier not a landscape painter. And the short transfer (1hr) is right up my street. So i am happy. So, have you been, tell me about Flaine. |
