Agree with much of what Julia says. The gondola is a bit odd, 2 forward, 2 reverse facing seats ~ around a central pole, with snow going down your neck! You can leave skis at the bottom of the Gondola for 2 Eu a day, but I preferred to carry. The downside is that you have to catch the last gondola down, so no slope-side drinkies. I would not have described B-l-B as "attractive"

It is hard for me to get past Niederau, but A-basin is always up at No 2. The photo is of the Pallavicini, reckoned to be the steepest run in the USA. The Pallavicini face itself, a group of very steep and seemingly endless mogul runs, is rated double black diamond extreme.
Last weekend we hosted some visitors from Vail, Colorado, and A-Basin was spoken of with much respect. Spoken as such only briefly, before the Colorado ladies and meself got the guitars out, and brought John Denver to life. Well. hmmm, not literally......... Of course it only seems fair that if we hosted a visit from Vail ladies they they should host a visit from .......... |

Yes apparently, I too have bought beginner/intermediate skis, (according to the web sites!). I guess that is why I could only make 98.92 kph on wet snow. BANDIT! I traded in my 210 Blizzard Firebirds in Colorado, after only 26 years of usage, and I felt then that they were only just worn in. How is it possible to wear out skis? |

I too had a great time at Perisher. Twas odd skiing beside eucalyptas trees. We had a cupboard clearout a couple of days ago, and ended up with all the old Aussie photos spread out. I still have two pairs of skis in Sydney......

Could I not just ski myself to death? May take a bit longer, but way to go!

You are just trying to make me feel guilty now. OK, I admit it, Whitsun 1969, late spring snow, the skiing was hard work. I ate a Marathon, and the paper must have slipped out of my hand. I was HUNGRY!
Never been to New York, and have no plans. |

Sad. On the other hand, next year the season is expected to extend well into July:
