Going to Zermatt
Started by User in Switzerland, 13 Replies
As an example, Milan to Zermatt Friday 3rd December.

Leave Milan Central - 12.25
Arrive Zermatt - 16.14

Total trip = 3 hours 49 mins, 1 change in Brig as Wickers mentioned.

No brainer IMO. It takes just as long from Geneva or Zurich. Given they are connections for you, Milan stands out a mile, even have a night or two there for a different aspect on your holiday. Unfortunately Zermatt is not so flight friendly unless you are lucky enough to be served by the few flights into Sion in the winter.
Ambitions for season 2010/2011

Afer failing in reaching my goal of sixty days riding last season (managed 42) I am again thinking about what to aim for this coming winter. Don't think 60 days is gonna be so hard this time round ;)

1. To snowboard in full Highland dress on Christmas day, I reckon snowboard boots will go grand with a kilt

2. To heliboard the Monta Rosa to Zermatt via Furi, 4200m - 1650m, a full 2.5km of vertical

3. To see my girlfriend happy and confident riding red runs in her 1st season on snow (especially the very long red 7 from Plateau Rosa to Cervinia)

4. To own a Valais SkiCard NO LIMIT for year long access to 2,800km of slopes http://www.valais.ch/en/Wallis-SkiCardVS-SkiCardNolimitVS.html

5. To stay healthy enough to do it all

Anyone else got any particular ambitions for the coming season?

Ah, I see, the meteorological thing, carry on

Agreed. I don't mind spending money but I do like to receive something of proportional value in return. €8 is okay for a sandwich and coke delivered to your table by a smiling blonde Austrian girl in tradtional dress, but when handed over the counter by a gruff Frenchman using his bare hands whilst making you feel daft that you don't have a full grasp of the coloqual nuances, I know what I'd rather choose.

Agreed, I did it last weekend for three days and found myself hiking of all things!! I even bought new pants specifically for that purpose :)
I understood all the sweary bits, but was a little confused by the gnarly terminology.

The spec is terrific, but the view of the Matterhorn is a deal clincher.
Well played.

No, not buying yet, I haggled on the rent :) always worth a shot!

The view is stunning, can't wait to sit with a beer in my living room completley enthralled by the microclimate at the summit, whilst the future Mrs T cooks my dinner ;) only joking, she can't cook.
