Check out Risoul and Vars...great for beginners, plenty for intermediates. At 1800m, so snow usually pretty good. A few pubs and bars for a few jars. Plenty of on-piste apartments - we skied to our balcony, and daughter No. 1 managed to ski to the boot room door (bar about 10 feet). Transfer about 3 hours from what I can remember. And one of the most ball breaking button lifts ever...guess who fell off?

Andid is spot-on - check the small print, and you are right to ask about people's experiences.

Good luck with trying to find "new for old" cover for your board. I suspect it will be difficult to find, not least because it would be very much open to abuse (you can imagine someone "losing" a really battered 15 year old board for the insurance money). Be good to know if you do find it, though. Whomever you go for, make sure you abide by their conditions e.g. locking-up board or whatever. As you say, the main thing is the medical cover.

Good luck - let us all know how you get on. Biomechanical analysis sounds sensible - I had it for my very flat feet/rolling gait and it worked wonders.

If the fitter was the one I'm thinking of who is local to you, I'd be very shocked...

Cheers, all. Now to convince the family that it's worth spending the extra money compared with a trip to La Thuile.

Not a surprise. Aside from high prices when you eat and drink out, what's not to like? Probably one of the easiest DIY ski holidays ever. English language website to book accommodation, transfers, passes and ski kit. Good snow record (Hemsedal not great this year). Friendly people.
