Freeride/freestyle skis

Hey

Am afraid I can't help you on the what skis to buy front.

I would however say that what skis will depend on how much time you want to ski and how much you want to play in the snow park. I only say this as most of my friends who love doing both have two sets of skis as when you are in the snowpark you don't want your skis to have too much of an edge on them as when they catch on a rail it can have some "hard" consequences plus the rails don't do too many favours to your edges.

Unfortunately I can't speak from experience as the snow parks aren't my thing..... :!:
Passo Tonale or Bardonecchia

I have to agree that Passo Tonale is great for beginners or people who suffer from a lack of confidence but thereafter there is little to keep any intermediate or advanced person entertained.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about Bardonecchia but judging by other peoples comments I would say go for it.
20 years and counting...

It is three years this month for me.

Since starting I have done 17 weeks skiing (I spent most of the season in Canada last year) and skied on three continents so not too bad for a late comer to the sport!

Hopefully by the end of this season I will have added a further 2 weeks to the list!

My only wish is that I had started earlier. I always wanted to go skiing but for one reason and another I missed out on the school trips and then when I started working I was either too poor or my friends weren't interested. Thank god a work colleague let me jump on her trip with her Scuba Diving mates.....
Knee inquiry

Hi Jhorsfall and welcome to J2

I also suffer from knee pain and often find that by the end of the day if I have been pushing myself my knees will ache. I do often wear a support on my right knee (this one was operated on) but I find it is the same when I am running too.
I found that I suffered the most pain when I was learning to ski, therefore using snowplough a lot. Now I find that I cannot use too many drag lifts but other than that i have no problems.
Traveling in your ski jacket for me is a must as it gets a few extra layers in my main bag (or in the case of me going for 4 weeks it will mean I will get my second jacket in with my skis and salos!)

P.S 2 sleeps to go before santa arrives and 6 sleeps before flying out of here again....
Holidays are coming.... holidays are coming.... Always Coca-Cola
It's snowing here in London!

For the first time in a long time it has snowed at my parents and it has stuck!! Not for long I am sure the sea always makes sure its too warm to stay around for long....
Ok its now 3 sleeps before Santa arrives with his sack and 7 sleeps before I jet off.....

I am off to just outside Quebec City, Canada. I spent last season at Mont-Sainte-Anne last year and fell in love with the place and did have an offer to work as an instructor but had to turn it down to return to the reality of work in the UK after 13 months of chilling. So this year I will base myself there but ski at a few of the other local resorts like Le Massif, Stoneham and Le Relais.

I know I'm lucky but its still very depressing knowing I soon return to reality.

Thats pure blasphemy even thinking of wishing Christmas to be over.... go and wash your hands (since they did the typing!) in soap and water :D

The four weeks bit is good but should have been a second season unfortunatley for me reality and back to work beckons on the 1st Feb!
