The Ski Helmet Debate
Started by Admin in Ski Hardware, 491 Replies, discussing Tignes and Val Thorens
I will confess that I don't wear a helmet but know it makes sense. Last season out of 5 skiiers I was the only one that didn't suffer concussion or need to take time out after a severe headache due to a fall and in all honesty it was surprising since I took some pretty hard falls.

I have to say it is noticeable in Canada that more skiiers wear helemets than they do in Europe and in fact I have had a few lectures about not wearing one as a skiier when on a chair lift!
How young can you start to snowboard?
Started by Wanderer in Snowboarding, 25 Replies, discussing Arabba and Les Menuires
There is no specific age as to what is too young to start boarding but from memory I think 7 was the youngest the ski school was happy to take.

Its a bit like skiing. Some people will start their kids as young as 2 or 3 but personally I would say the best age is 4 upwards only because they have a bit more strength and understanding and also a bit more interest but then again you have the odd child younger who picks it up and wants to be there so it is always child dependant.

Nice set of skis Bandit! :D

Twin tips are perfect for the snow park just a nightmare to follow if someone is skiing on piste with them as they kick up so much snow.....
Helmet Cam

I've seen some really good head camera footage and its probably the best way you will be able to ski normally and therefore capture the moment. I would have thought that the hand held "a la Mr bell" will give you as much potential for sky and snow shots as a head cam given you won't be filming using the viewer and your hand probably won't naturally face downhill...... just like you are likely to look up and down with a head cam :?:

I'm sure some of you will correct me if I'm wrong
