Hi,
I will be off to Bourg-St-Maurice next Wednesday , I will pick Rose and Gordons brains at the Polairestar ski hire shop and see if they have any ideas or know of any that are available to take over for a season either there or in Les Arcs. If I get time I will pop into Socogest Immobiliere and some of the other agents and see what they have also, and let you know. Jon. |

Hi,
Have you any idea's where abouts in the Alps you would like to stay, I am off to Bourg-St-Maurice in 9 days and while I am there I will pick Rose and Gordon's brains at the Polairestar ski hire shop to see if they know anyone in the area. I may have a couple of other people who may be interested in providing a season rental....what size group are you looking for ( is it just for yourself and the other half with friends coming out etc ). Hi Paul,
Two or three good restaurants are the Belliou La Fumee which is located by the car park in Pre Saint-Esprit ,Les Chalets de L'Arc which is located on the main piste just above Arc 200 ( s is also an outside cabin/hut with seating that serves hot tarteflette, pizza, quiche etc for very reasonable prices, and my other favourite is La Soliet ( think it's spelt correctly which is reached via the Lanchettes chairlift in Arc 2000 , and a good ski halfway down to Le Pre.....also in Le Pre if the snow is good enough to ski all the way down is the bar La Ferme although meals can be had on the spot sometimes it's best to arrange something in advance if it's during busy holiday periods. Have a great time , and a safe enjoyable trip. Jon. |

Hi,
There are two new apartment complex's being built in Bourg-St-Maurice, on is on the corner of the main cross roads just up from the Train Station, the other is at the other end of town. The apartments have been built by MGM and are available on Leaseback or out right Freehold, the freehold apartments start at around 130,000 - 140,000euros for a good size 1 bedroom apartment and upwards in price and size from there. There are also plenty of resale apartments and small/medium and large half chalet and full chalets for sale. In the Les Glieres apartments where I have my apartment there are a few for sale, these range from a 17sq/m studio for two at around 50,000euros up to larger properties 25sq/m ( which can accomadate 4-6 people ) to apartmets of aound 70 sq/m or so, the 25sq/m apartments which if they look over the town and up to Les Arcs and La Rosiere from one end , and at the other look out over the pool and gardens range from about 80,000euros to 96,000euros, with the larger apartments coming in around 125,000euros or so. The beauty of Bourg-St-Maurice is that it gives access to several major resorts and areas, including Les Arcs ( direct via funicular railway) La Plagne, La Rosiere ,Ste-Foy ,Val D'isere and Tignes and the Trois Vallee's resorts also all of which are within 7 minutes via the funicular to Les Arcs 1600 , and the others being reachable within 40 minutes to about an hour. Also there is the direct train link with eurostar,SNCF,TGV to Bourg itself from London,Ashford and Calais, and also within 2- 2.5 hours from Geneva , Lyon,Grenoble and Chambery airports. In the summer months there are fete's,Music Festivals ( Folk ,Jazz etc) and is also periodically on the route for the Tour de France, and World and European White Water Championships. All in all a fantastic Town and stunningly beautiful part of the Alps with high alpine walks and several glaciers so summer skiing is also popular ( Tignes, Grande Motte for example ),also in summer you can drive over the Col u Petite Saint Bernard into La Thuile Italy, and onto courmayeur. Jon P.s I will post a good website for french property once I have dug out the address. |

Hi,
I think Tignes/Val is open until about the 6th May and the last skiable day in Les Arcs I think from memory is 30th April this year, as with other resorts it could be just a case of using the ole internet to check when various resorts are open until and then check the ski conditions for them. In the last skiable week in many resorts the lift passes can be half price which is good, and if buying a daily pass the actual last day is sometimes free :) which is good. Jon. |
