I took a really bad fall his year ( I ended up in hospital with concussion) and i fell on my shoulder and leg.I had a square lump on my right quad which hurt caused by the contents of my pocket...but no bruising..I was surprised at that but it was explained to me by a doctor in our group that there is little flesh in that area and the damage is just above the bone which takes some time to heal ..but no bruises

Just as an aside I had no bruises on my upper arm shoulder either but it still hurts and I have restricted movement..so your shin problem comes as no surprise

I have a pair of Smiths IO ..without a fan and have never had any trouble with them fogging
you can get to the airport from Annecy without going through Switzerland at all or even the toll roads... there is a little road over the hills and go in on the French side 1.5hrs
I will agree with Far Queue..I got stuck on the Fernpass on a Saturday afternoon in January it might have been Ok if we had got there early.....just weight of traffic ..about 1.5 hours..but absolutely no problem on the return .. Innsbruck to Munich last year ..2hours stationary on a Saturday ..I will try the Alrlberg tunnel next year

Lively place ..the highest resort in the 3V generally excellent skiing but I don't think a resort for beginners . Not the cheapest place in the world but the skiing is great

You all mirror my sentiments ..back in the 50s and 60s it snowed every winter and people just got on with it ...and the kids wore short trousers....You knew 2nd week January it snowed and the ashes from the coal fires were saved to put on the pavement and cars got up hills on narrow tyres and rear wheel drive ...these days 1/2 an inch of snow and London slides to a standstill ....snowflakes
