Get together for those up North!
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 112 Replies
I'd be interested in a get together at either venue. I'm based on Teesside but I don't mind travelling. My only concern would be getting time off work midweek, as I start a new job at the beginning of November and don't want to push my luck asking for holidays right at the start. A weekend wouldn't be a problem though. :D
Not sure about smells, but every time I hear Katie Perry's 'Hot and Cold' it takes me back to our favourite mountain restaurant in Sauze – they played it pretty much continuously when we were there last year. As jastem says, squeaky shoes on snow (doesn't even have to be ski boots) also immediately turn my mind to skiing.

I was watching an old episode of The Hotel Inspector, set in the Portes du Soleil the other night and was positively drooling over the lovely snowy pistes in the background. I've also taken to watching episodes of High Altitude and Ski Sunday that I've taped over the past couple of years and reading numerous brochures/ski websites and checking webcams at every available opportunity (usually when I've got other, more important things I'm supposed to be doing!)

Do they have a skiaholics anonymous? I think I have a problem……..

87 days (and counting) 'till Arabba :D
Getting fit for skiing

Guilty as charged

It's a shame not to enjoy a glass of wine or several with a meal though (soft drinks just aren't the same), particularly as we have eight cases under the stairs crying "drink me" in very loud, pleading voices. OH got a little click happy on Virgin Wines Auctions, though we did get some absolute bargains

As for the chocolate, I'm female, what more can I say..... :(
Anyone booked for next season yet?

Unfortunately all travel sickness pills have a drowsy effect. But Stugeron is the least likely to cause severe drowsiness. You could try travel bands, or health food shops sell ginger sweets etc. Now recommended for all types of sickness, even morning sickness.

Thanks Rose, I'll give them a try. The acid test is whether I can survive a car journey with my step father driving – if they work for that, they'll work for anything as he makes everyone ill!

I've started doing a few miles on my cross trainer this week in an effort to get fit, though I think I'm going to have to put in a bit more effort to really make a difference.

I'm also trying to cut out all the nice (but fattening) things in my diet (the usual chocolate, wine, cheese etc.) for a while as I'm determined to lose a stone before my hols. Whether I succeed or not (particularly with Christmas in the middle) is an entirely different matter…. :D

Anything in particular I should warn them about
At least you should be able to get away with flip flops on holiday which I'd guess will be less painful to wear?

Hope it feels better soon :D
