I would throw a strop and demand you pay for a limo to the resort.
hang on.....

It's a surprise trip for him, right?

Well he is gonna get a hell of a surprise when you tell him on the plane not to have another beer because he has to drive at the other side!!!!

Fair enough fella, but FTR...

Accidents may well have already happened due to this, like they have due to alcohol or inexperienced people on grades too hard for them, or simply because accidents happen.

I enjoy going riding for a few days alone, I love to escape and have some tunes on whilst I do it, I would be very upset to see it banned.

Mind I would be even more upset if I wasn't allowed a beer )

I see your point, but don't see a suggestion to address it.

tino, I think it comes under the banner of " due care and attention " enhancing senses really applies to the permanent loss of a sense. I just shudder with the thought of half term crowded pistes it could be carnage.

I see no difference either between someone wearing an iPod and someone having a couple of beers or schnapps at lunchtime, both impair your senses to some degree, both are allowed. We cant reduce the risk of something until it is no longer fun, then the risk wouldn't be worth taking.

I think you will find that maybe 20% or more of people already ski with music on. (this is just personal observation)

This is an interesting topic now. I ride with an iPod about 60% of the time, although only in clear conditions, I feel the loss of sight and sound a bit unnerving.

I have to agree with Ise 100% on this. Infact I would almost say (I repeat ALMOST) that it may even enhance the safety of some. In the FIS ski rules it says nothing about listening for people advancing. This for reasons already pointed out is somewhat futile. It is all about observation with the eyes and knowing your own ability.

Some may even say that cutting off one of the senses enhances the others to compensate. I must admit to feeling more focused when listening to music, I seem to ride smoother, but hey this may just be a perception.

I fail to see the difference between an Ipod and a helmet however when it comes to muffling sound.

Just be carefull of the piste bashers )
Me, I thought about it but decided it was not so snowboarder friendly
