One of our boarders asked the rep where to go to find the best powder. He was told to try the frog and roast beef. Not the sort of powder he was looking for.
I love 3v, will be in Val Thorens in 3 weeks time. :-) |

Come on we need more snow dancers.

The Grizzly bar just has to be experienced though doesn't it? I don't think there is another bar anywhere quite like it.

Right, looks like we're on then. Thanks to everyone willing to support.
We need more however, please join us, pleadge your support before the event, including where you will be doing your snow dance. OK then When - Saturday 12 Feb as close to 12 noon as you can manage. Where - Wherever you are, preferable outside. Orientation - Facing the alps Style - Optional but should feature firmly planted feet a litle over shoulder width apart. That way we are all linked thus multipling the effect. Dress - Optional, however full ski/board gear would be good. Now I'm a bit concerned about the YMCA being performed as a snow dance, I fear the snow gods may think you're taking the wee wee and make it rain as a consequence. On your head be it. Also I'm not happy about firearms being employed to enduce snowfall, I don't understand how this can be focussed on the Alps? I fear it might bring about a huge dump but on England closing the airports. In fact you didn't use a firearm last January did you AllyG? |

Right, the snow forecast for the Alps just isn't up to scratch, so we need to take action. We want powder and we want it soon. We need to perform a snow dance.
A few years ago we had a trip going out and the lack of snowfall was becoming a worry. One of our members jokingly said that they were going to do a snow dance. On returning from lunch (it may have been a liquid lunch), I thought that sounds like a good idea and sent out an email to all our members asking them over the weekend to face the Alps and do a snow dance. I think we agreed that a snow dance is somewhere in-between the All Blacks Haka and the Macarena. As long as you do it like you mean it, it's fine. So that weekend spread across the UK from Perth down to Worthing a Snow Dance was performed. Within a few days the weather turned and it snowed like billy-oh. I think with the members of J2Ski on the case we can overcome the current lack of powder. Who's going to give it a go? Photos would be good. |

The problem most people have with ice is, quite naturally, they tense up. As Pavel says soft edges are essential, tensing up has the opposite effect.
You need to learn to be balanced over your skis and stay relaxed. Easier said than done but if you don't let ice freak you out you're halfway there. |
