Thanks Andyhull for those lovely Tignes photos. I've decided I'm not going to wait until January - that looks plenty of snow for me, I'm not greedy :D

I'll be off ski-ing there tomorrow

Thanks Swingbeep :D
I will see what I can do.

And Jon - that scan picture of yours is frightening the life out of me

I think I will cancel this season's ski trip and stay home and read a book instead

SwingBeep, I am planning on asking the ski hire shop people to set the skis up for me - I have no idea how to do this. Will they test the bindings as part of normal routine, or will I have to ask them to do it?

I find it pretty scary thinking about getting hurt ski-ing. When I broke my shoulder on the dry slope I didn't have time to think about what I should do as I fell - it all happened far too fast. Like - bang - ow!

Thanks Trencher and Jon :D

So I need to do lots of squats etc. and not try to ski backwards without checking the snow very carefully for holes first?

Best of luck Jon. I'm glad it doesn't sound too bad

Thanks for all the help, tips and info....

Just got back from seeing the Consultant with the MRI results and have High-Grade ACL injury which is complete or near complete, also a Horizontal Cleavage Tear at the junction between the Anterior Horn and Lateral Mensiscus so will need an Orthoscopy and 3 weeks off work....

So better than I thought, also signs of slight Arthritus in the knee ( only blummin 40 yrs old ) .

jon.

Thanks for the info Jon, but I'm afraid you've totally lost me

What are they going to do to fix your knee?

And is there anything the rest of us can do to avoid an injury like yours, other than pre-ski-ing exercises to strengthen the knee?

The agents I use for our holiday cottages phoned up once and said would I take someone in 2 hours time - and I said 'fine, no problem'.

I usually put the cottages on special offer about 2 weeks before, if I haven't got a booking.

But I don't like going on last minute ski holidays myself, because I like to have it all planned well ahead of time. Sometimes you can get things very cheaply by booking well in advance.

Hi Horsesforcourses :D

I've added you as well as Paulh764, Lanewalk, and Blackpool-Skier :D

If the date's wrong please let me know and I'll correct it.

I've left the list on the previous page because it's getting pretty long now. If anyone else wants to go on it would they please say where and when they're going. The Excel sheet will automatically work out how many days/sleeps it is for you each day.
