That's probably best termed as wet granular snow and is caused by high temperatures and/or rain. That's a lot easier to ski than LGS though. |

I don't have an ACL injury but from what I understand ... if you're falling then let it go, keep your weight forward while skiing and ankles flexed etc, if you start to fall then that stance should push you forward and into the fall line on the fall. What else I've read is just all about not getting the weight back which is all just good common-sense good practice skiing anyway. |

actually wasn't that me? on a steep traverse in Tignes? I'm never sure if people have confidence when it's steep although I recall we were mostly over it before it struck me to ask. |

After 25 years I've a fair idea when it's going to snow ) I'll be skiing from November to May as usual. |

There's big differences, not just in the things taught but in the way instructors are recruited and trained in the US, in the US they want to get people into instructing much quicker so the entry bar is very low, at the top end it's all pretty much the same though, there's good reasons for this but it does mean you have to pause a little when someone tells you they're an instructor as it might mean they're a 3 or 4 week skier themself. I think in the US it's common now not to teach snow ploughs which seems odd to me but they have some reasoning behind it. |

definitely stick to a mountain, always more than the coast I find :) March is part of the main winter season, you don't need to camp on a glacier at 3000m to find snow. Should be good this season, Easter is later so March should be pretty quiet and I'd lay a small wager we'll have about the best skiing of the season. |

About the only time I've been far enough in front of Neil to get a photo', I've a number of his back dissapearing into the distance ) |
