or they are according to the Telegraph :

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/3128841/Skiing-holiday-costs-to-soar.html

I know our local lift company are saying that electricity prices have gone up 71% in two years and this year there will be an increase in day pass prices from Fr. 46.- to Fr. 47 to cover some of this cost. I don't think our domestic tariff rose by that but we don't use a lot of electricity in the chalet so I'm not 100% sure.

Is Canada for a week do-able?

snowb4ndit wrote:My OH and I went to Whistler for a week only last Christmas. It was so worth the long flight. Jet lag was a minor problem...we were up early...on the slopes early...straight to the bar at 4.30 ish and in bed by 10ish. We came home wishing we could have afforded two weeks but wherever we go we have those thoughts when it's time to come home. Feeling tired for a day when you go back to work is a very small price to pay for the best skiing in the world.

If I were you I'd jump at the chance...think of the powder!!!

I've had to go to the West Coast of the US a lot over the years on business and it's pretty manageable while you're there. I try to arrive early evening and then stay up until midnight at least, getting up slightly later the next morning, around 0900 or so, have a good breakfast and then I find I'm fine. The second night I try to go to bed at around 2300 or so and avoid the temptation to sleep earlier and my body clock is adjusted. Returning is always a pain and I've not found a good routine to break that down.

I can't say much caught my eye there at all really. I thought the ski tests were a bit less than systematic as well, just a few high street brands.

whereabouts in the Gd Massif? Flaine will be fine, elsewhere the lower runs will be getting a little thin but the area is snow sure, here's some photo's from late April 2005 :

The snow in the photo of ise in Val d'Isere shows snow that is being subjected to rather high temperatures. It has deep furrows, which don't collapse when skied on, and the snow on top is clumpy and wet.
(I'm sure ise will have the proper terminology) )

too long ago to recall, I'd probably have just called it variable conditions. It's a bit odd just there, it doesn't get much sun and there's blasts of cold air off the glacier so it's tending to harder pack than elsewhere in the area, there's a handful of good off piste routes cutting down through that area actually.
