Hi ,

Try Jon Thorpe on +33 (0)6 65 00 39 09 , he works for Mountain Drop Offs , but was looking to start a service privately in the area last time i spoke to him in the La Monal in Ste-Foy.

Best of luck

Hi ,

You could try Mountain River High with Fabrice Bernier , he is based in Bourg-St-Maurice which is short drive away his number is +33 (0)6 14 35 55 67

You could also have a chat with Alison who owns/runs Chez Alison to see if she knows anyone, might be worth a punt.

Hi,

Continental ContiCrossContacts ( might be under a different name this year or newer model ) , Nokian GR2 or Vredstein winter rubber are some of the best about...

Will be fitting a set of Continental winter/snow rubber for this winter here in the UK, as they are designed to perform at temps below +7 degrees C in snow , ice and wet conditions.

All the best

On topic, finish up at 4.30, bar up top, let the piste control do there final run and tilt down the mountain ;-) only in a group though. Après ski, Austrian style till about 9pm, be awoken by the local bobby in a field at 10pm, apologise and head for the nearest bar. Killer..

I did have to be helped into a taxi by two elderly ladies out walking their dog once after two too many in the Roo bar in St. Anton......the short ski down must have taken me about 2 hrs :D

Hi,

How did you get on with your sudden dump of snow last month ? , I read that some poor farmer lost a flock of 300 sheep on the pastures above Bourg-St-Maurice......think it must have been the Fort side , up by the five lakes walk, must have been cold up their but they have many goats and plenty of cheese to keep them warm :D .

Hopefully I will be out to chez jonG at the end of August myself , so it will be good to see whats been going on in my local backyard while I've been away... :D

Hi,

From a totally biased point of view Bourg-St-Maurice/Les Arcs has plenty of good places to stay at very reasonable prices, and has a very large , snow reliable ski area ( as reliable as can be had when the weather is the main controller of your holiday ).

There are plenty of runs for all abilities and some well served piste side off piste, as well as plenty more further afield. Also if staying for a week on the 6 day pass you get a days discounted skiing in La Rosiere , Ste-Foy , Tignes & Val D'Isere , and the Trois Vallee's.
