Pas de la Casa - is it the one!
Started by User in Andorra, 9 Replies
Welcome Ian,

There is loads on info on here about skiing in Andorra and Pas de la Casa.
Do a search and read some old stuff - you will get a whole range of views.
I have never skied Andorra but in general it is known as a good place for the novice skier.
When do you plan to go?
Not sure how snow sure it is early and late season.

On cost several people have commented that prices are similar to the average Alpine resorts nowadays (excluding those mega resorts that tend to be pricier such as Three Valleys, Val D'Isere and St Anton for example).
Hope this helps - I'm sure you will get lots more comments over the next few days.

IMHO it is innapropriate to come out of hibernation until last seasons snow has totally gone.

Caveat - except on glaciers of course and hidden pockets.

ERRRRR NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I hear what you say but this update is VERY significant.
Apple upgrade their lines roughly every 6-9 months with processor updates but every 3 years or so they do a major revamp. Which happened yesterday.
The Macbook felthorpe is brilliant but the new one is a whole new breed, e.g: the removal of optical drive and hard drive.

How do you play CD or DVD then?

and how does it work without a hard drive Snapzzz???

No optical drive simply means you have to buy everything on itunes.

No experience of or real knowledge of Warren Smith.
I did have the unfortunate experience of sharing a table with someone who had been on one of his courses - all I can say is thank god I wasn't part of his group !!

But ...
I have been on two intensive weeks.
Both in Verbier and called Course de Godille.

These involve quite an extensive test at the start of the week (several runs of varying diffculty, before choosing groups and then a meet at lunch to shift a few people around.
You meet your instructor at 08.30 and leave him about 5.00pm after a well earned drink.

On the first one I would say I was a solid intermediate with about 5 weeks under my skis. I remember this week mostly as it was the first time I hit some difficult runs (Tortin for example) and, although the falls were frequent, I gained a lot of confidence.

Went back the next year, with a couple of weeks extra skiing in between, and this week really lifted my skiing. Skied everything pretty much including Mont Gelee and Mont Fort and quite a bit of tree skiing in powder.

Both truly worthwhile weeks - as everyone has said, very tiring and no energy for anything remotely like partying in the evening but my skiing ability shot up.

The next season was my first full season in 3V and I had the ability and confidence to really make the most of this area including many of the itinery routes, loads of off-piste and the Courchevel Couloirs.

Intensive weeks worked for me but I can see them being a very personal experience. It was a week of hard work and focussed skiing and not really a "holiday".

So glad I did them.

Son has a Mac Book - a very sexy bit of kit.
Sister has just gone totally Apple - phone, pad, imac, again all very sexy.

I will stay with PC.
3 reasons.......
Cost - bought OH a new laptop, a lot more kit for the money than a Mac Book.
Convenience - I know the PC environment well and am happy to fiddle away.
Availability of programmes - don't want to be tied to the Apple platform - too many programmes to replace!!
We looked at Mac's a few years ago for the business but the outlay of swapping was extraordinary.
