skifun wrote:Thanks Rose - my friend has just pointed out that Seefeld is about 2 hours from Munich, so we're looking at Garmisch too which would be closer.

We'll be arriving into Munich late at night so don't want to have to drive too far.

Does anyone have any tips about Garmisch? One reader review I saw said the upper lifts were a bit outdated, which doesn't concern me too much - but is it possible to ski back to village level there? And any recommendations for self-catering accomodation?

(I know Garmisch is Germany and this is an Austria forum, but the Germany forum is pretty quiet)

Thanks again.

Garmisch is just down the road from Seefeld isn't it? I can't see it's much quicker to get there really.

Yes took us 30mins on train to get to Garmisch from Seefeld. Just went for a day out, the year there was not much snow.

It certainly is, I cant believe it, never snows here
skifun wrote:Many thanks for the welcome everyone, and for all the suggestions.

We'd really like to avoid a bus or car journey to the lifts and to be able to ski back to wherever we're staying - especially as it's only a three-day trip

An extensive ski area isn't too much of priority as we won't need that for a shot stay.

So Seefeld looks a distinct possibility as www.wtss.co.uk says there's a red run right back down.

I haven't had a good look at the other resort reviews yet, so there might be others which are equally convenient.

Seefeld is a lovely place, been 5 times. Three seperate ski areas. I dont think there is to much self catering really, more hotels I think. Have you looked on the Official Seefeld site, that gives a lot of info on there.

No chance. Not when you set it in dynamic positioning mode.
Anyway, you're a boarder so what do you know, apart from ridiculously big pants.

You've never seen my pants. Only a part time boarder

Hi skifun, try Garmisch, Mittenwald or Seefeld. All within the hour from Munich.
