There's been a big area of high air pressure sitting over Eastern Europe for the last 3 weeks or so, drawing in warm air from the south - a classic holding pattern. It's finally losing it's identity and it's influence will end some time over the next few days. That will allow winter to arrive.
My confidence is based on watching the developing weather patterns not blind optimism!

Anyone that books a holiday for the last week of November needs to be an optimist!

I've experienced 'too much snow' in mid December before.

Thanks Andy )
Have you skied there?

We stayed in Canazei which wasn't bad, some good skiing and fairly good links to the circuit. But the best runs were in Selva and Arabba. Selva being better for the intermediates.
I loved Selva, the highlight being the Saslong downhill, awesome!

If you're not on real stuff at the end of January the whole of the European ski industry might as well give up!

I'm confident we'll be on real stuff in 3 weeks time.
Next Weekend Is Big Opening Weekend

Bet they all wish they hadn't brought the opening dates forward now!
Almost all the early opening resorts used to open first weekend in December, a few a week earlier. Now after a single year of the snow arriving 10 days early they've all planned for mid November. Can't blame them trying to stretch the season to the max, but was bound to back fire surely?
I've skied the scheduled opening day of the season in Val D'Isere on 6th Dec.
