http://www.snowexpress.co.uk/timetable.php

looks a good deal and not much slower than the plane when you take into account the time spent waiting at airports and the transfers..and it might be more comfy than the plane

I would go ..Lille > Luxembourg (fill up there its the cheapest in Europe)>Strasbourg > Stuttgart> Munich >Innsbruck to Brenner pass..the route you mentioned you would use the Arlberg tunnel and is longer and more expensive

ps

Going through Switzerland is longer to Innsbruck and would cost the Swiss road tax £40

Val Thoren wasn't that busy the last week in March this year and is a s described above...but how about Samoens on the Grand Massif ...nice little village and a free local bus (5mins) round to the lift station
Prices Flaine or Morzine/Les Gets

Are you driving?

If so you can save money by taking a fair bit of food with you. We take clothes in those storage bags that you vacuum the air out, leaving more room in the car for food.

We go to the Grand Massif a lot, the skiing is great. It can get expensive buying lunch out on the slopes every day. If money is a consideration buy some baguettes and ham, make yourself a sandwich and enjoy it sat among the trees at the bottom of the slopes in Flaine. Pure heaven!
We even take a flask of coffee!

Totally agree ..stopped in Samoens in Jan and had wonderful skiing but got charged €3 for a packet of crisps in Flaine so we took packed lunches...I would go again as the skiing is wonderful
