I obviously don't get out much

Seriously though I can't remember the last time I saw one in Europe, granted I usually fly than drive and haven't skiied France. In fact on my round the world trip I only found hole in the floor toilets in Malaysia and that was out of 18 countries!

Karen I can't remember the last time I saw a hole in the floor toilet in Europe. I think they are very few and far between these days.

Both Continental and Air Canada charge $50 each way to Canada.

I don't consider it too bad given I can carry as much as I like in my ski bag and they don't seem to weigh it.

This time around I'm hoping to put everything in the one bag since I'm only going for 12 days. Just hope they don't insist on weighing it!

Ally effectively it means that you pee like a man!

I will admit that I wouldn't find the need to use on one on the slopes as a toilet is never too far away however when out and about "up hills and down dales" I can see they could be better than trying to find an illusive bush

This is one mad and crazy sport!

Having watched the snowboard cross last week I knew it was going to be good but didn't expect it to be this good!!!!
Hmmmmmm I think people are starting to get their knickers in a twist over this thread....

This place is a forum for everyone to express their opinions rightly or wrongly. As Trencher rightly says everyone has a right to their opinion and everyone has different ways of learning. There is no right or wrong way to learn and lessons aren't always the answer but I think everyone will agree that it is always a good start. As any instructor (skiing or otherwise) will always tell you that everyone learns in a different way and it is tapping into the best way you learn that works. For some people it can be visual and others by way of explanation.

No-one has actually accused anyone specifically on here of being out of control its was just a generalisation rightly or wrongly. I think what is safe to say is that everyone hates out of control skiiers and wishes they could be banned from the slopes however that is unlikely to happen (unfortunately!)

Anyway that is may peace keeping mission over..... lets all play nice and friendly now and not take comments to heart
doing a ski season

I wouldn't call working as a ski instructor hell.... I love it but I suppose it depends on what you want out of your season.

If you want to be a ski instructor then as Bandit says it can be time consuming and expensive. You will also have to be prepared to work with kids and beginners day in day out so you won't get as much personal skiing done as you would if you got a bar job and skied in the day and worked at night. Just anticipate you will spend most of your life on the bunny hill running up and down with no skis on and being very very patient. Its not hell but it is hard work however the sense of achievement for both you and your Client often makes it more than worthwhile IMO! 8)

I have never used one but I do know people that have.

I believe that they take a bit of practice to be able to use and in fact the two girls I met who had them traveling hadn't actually used them because they had had difficulty when practising in the shower (too much information I know  )

I can see their use however will confess that there are only a few occasions when I wished I had one - and they were when I was using pretty grim in the middle of nowhere and very dirty hole in the floor jobs in Malaysia. I have usually managed at festivals...
