yes sorry another bladder issue! lol,not that I am paranoid or anything but following on from my "shewee" debate, I was a bit worried about some of the replies that I got about peeing over holes in the ground. Is this the case? (I am going to Valmorel) do they have these in mountain restaurants or in normal restuarants? sorry to ask these questions but i have never been to France before and the thought of having to squat over one of these holes in the ground, with my ski boots, salopettes and thermals on whilst trying to hold my jacket in one hand and toilet paper in the other, just doesnt fill me with glee

is it regular to find these types of toilets on the slopes? if so, where have you found them so I can compile a list of places to avoid lol

Karen You should be Ok in Valmorel I can't remember any dodgy toilets the last hole in the ground I used was in Bormio in Italy many years ago, so fear not many cold seats await you.

Karen I can't remember the last time I saw a hole in the floor toilet in Europe. I think they are very few and far between these days.

Saw one in Tignes last time I was there. Public loos are often porcelain standers'. French restaurant loos, may have doors and seats, but quite often have coin slots or an attendant to harrass folk for money.

Karen,
I was really shocked to see one in the newish sports centre in Val Thorens. It's a really huge modern complex of undercover shops with a swimming pool etc. but the toilets were definitely holes in the floor

I'm afraid I didn't even attempt to use them, but went off to find some other ones, which I found in the shower/changing area for the sports hall.

You don't drive much? They are all the way up and down the French Autoroutes.

shouldn't raise any problems for a skier, consider it strength training :-) and they're more hygienic you know...
