For 2011 i have narrowed it to la Plagne or Les Arcs. The problem is that i just can decide! And its not helped by the fact that these resorts are split over the different levels.
For those that have been, which would you recommend and why? Which is best for apres, shopping (food ect) and non ski activities? and Ski in Ski out?
The general skiing is not too much of a concern as all resorts are pretty much on top of each other. We just want to choose the right village for what we want.
Help!

If you are considering these, have you looked at Alpe d'Huez?

I think I'd dismiss Arc 1600 for apres.
Shopping maybe because there is the cabin rail that takes you up and down to the town below.
Can't say for the other Arcs or La Plangne however wherever you stay you will be skiing the same resort unless you go for a pass that limits you to one or other side of the Vanoise express cable car that links the two resorts.

For Les Arcs, 1950 because it's the newest and built around a square. Connected to Arc 2000 by gondola for pedestrians.
For Les Arcs shopping, Arc 1600 because the Funicular connects you to Bourg St Maurice.
For La Plagne, Belle Plagne, because it's the highest, least ugly and is connected to Bellecote by Gondola at night.
As for the resorts being on top of each other, be aware that it's a massive ski area.

Just come back from Arcs last week.
Would stay at the lower resorts such as 1850 or if your budget will stretch 1950 resort but not much going on at 1950 in evenings (bit like a theme park).
The place is well built and lovely but pricey and small.
2000 is not very good looks very worn out and the hotels are a bit tired.
Skiing is very good though with lots of mileage and if you get the 6 day discovery pass you can have a day over at Le Plagne which is activalted on the same card for 1 day.
:-)
